Hi golfs looking for some advice as I don't really have a driveway or garage I am looking into safe storage for my bike I am on the waiting list for a council lock up but looking into self storage nearby until then been quoted £20 per week for a storage container with 24/7 access seems ok but are thes a good idea to store bike and possibly leathers and gear through the winter

have you discussed the fact it's a bike with the self storage place, some of them will do so but only if all fluids are drained (petrol and oil) presumably due to insurance reasons.

Filling the tank with fuel, cleaning and lubing (i'd just use engine oil) the chain and cleaning the brakes and sticking a cover over it should suffice just for over winter.

Personally I do the above and carry on riding through winter as it's my daily transport.

Yea spoke to them on the phone they are fine with a bike and says I can get 24/7 access for going out on it, got a cover for it and would still be going down during winter to start it up and give it a wee wipe down thanks

Short term, maybe, but £1040 a year for storage that you'll have to travel to in order to use the bike?

That's an Almax 19mm, anchor, cover, extra insurance and enough ACF-50 to drown it.

It'd have to be a pretty valuable and pride-and-joy machine given that you could buy a hack for less than that and just laugh it off if it goes missing.

I know it's a lot but it's not just the elements it's jealous folk who take joy in damaging other people's things not even stealing just damaging its not a new or expensive bike but it's well looked after and wouldn't like anything like that happening

I wouldn't even have the space for that really is limited space the only option is in a communal area but worried about it there

I like where I live it has everything I need nearby and great size for the kids only downside is no garden or driveway and the storage place is only 2 miles from my house so leave my gear with the bike jump in the car suit up and ride happy days my only question really was if anybody else had used them and would it be ok over winter
