https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/topless-femen-protesters-kicked-during-scuffles-at-muslim-conference-about-women-10499668.html

What is the SJW-sanctioned response? Do I cheer on femen for smashing the patriarchy? Or instead sympathise with the followers of the religion of piece for having been assaulted by the sight of a naked infidel?

Boo, those bloody Muslims get all the fun - titties in life and then virgins for blowing themselves up.

It's about time more pretty women started getting them out in public and flaunting them in the face of the general public. Laughing

Yes, it is pretty hard.

I think as far as feminism goes, this kind of thing is worthwhile.

It's as provocative as, say, two gay men going and kissing on stage in previous generations. It's seen as indecent and provocative, but it gets people talking and shouts volumes on behalf of millions of unhappy Arab women.

There are many many many Arab women who believe those women deserved the horrendous beating they got. Shocked

An Arab Culture:
The man 'provides' for the woman so the woman has no need of independence or free thinking
The woman has no say in anything other than care of the family.
The woman's only significance is the bearing of children (male children being priority numero uno) and looking after the home.
Any other behaviour is not necessary and therefore unacceptable.

Heh, I came across a very similar argument on another forum I use.

"Some women are happy with their position in society, so the ones who complain should just shut up because, this culture is what it is."

Imagine how far the UK would have come if that's how things were dealt with?

I would hazard a guess that 50 years ago British woman would not have been surprised at those women being beaten for what they did.
Times have changed.
I think it would be shocking that the women were beaten and not simply apprehended for 'doing something wrong'.

Women do not need to Kow-Tow to men today as they can support themselves.

Arab women have not had a taste of freedom. They probably see it as an impossible waste of effort.

The 'culture' story is one that a Libyan electrician explained to me on the rig one day. He was a really nice guy but had a massive difference of opinion on some issues.
His saving attribute was that he wasn't ignorant. He understood the Western Way he just didn't adopt it.
He country was set-up for women to be as dogs/cattle so all was normal. (for him).
Very Happy

Another view is the super rich families where women need for nothing as Papa is a prince, King, Gangsta Boss.

Hypergamy doesn't go away even when women can support themselves. Nor do the power grabs rad fems attempt now and again.

Go look at Hong Kong. Plenty of women can support themselves... but men still have to pay for absolutely everything in the home. Women any money they earn they get to keep for themselves. I had an argument with a woman a few weeks ago.

You're not a man if you can't support your wife and go out to work all hours...

So why exactly do you bring to a relationship?

Fuck moral relativism.

Admitted the sons and daughters of Europe have a pretty brutal history but we also have done more than almost anyone in the last few hundred years to get society in some kind of equal order. We've built some of the best countries to live in, as evidenced by the vast numbers who want to join the party.

Muh culture is not a valid excuse treat people poorly.

Yet somehow 'muh culture' is used constantly and worse still accepted as one time and again here in the UK,
all in the interest of not rocking an already overflowing boat. Rotherham springs to mind as a recent example of this.

It is a question of tolerance.
Humans are not tolerant by nature.
Possibly a Darwinian trait where one can only progress if one is top dog.

Beating human nature down is what civilisation does. Watch kids in a playgroup whacking each other for whatever they want. Smile
Until humans learn how to behave in society we are beasts.

Itchy, there is a'tradition' in the UK of, 'What's mine is mine and what's his is ours too.' Smile

It may take several generations to educate the world.

Goes to show how much you know, then.

Femen is a batshit insane borderline cult, started by an hilariously misogynistic guy called Victor Syvastki, because "the girls couldn't have started it [Femen] on their own", apparently. So far, their primary long-term plan seems to involve making money off media royalties and selling souvenir-style paraphrenalia. The main things that they're noted for as an organisation is property damage and public nudity - they've not really got any significant gender equality wins under their belt, unless you're talking about balancing up the female:male ratio in prisons.

Personally, I'd argue that between Femen, the third wave and Tumblr, feminism is on the verge of eating itself.

Oh right, I thought Femen was just a media buzzword for feminism or something.

Well, maybe those who know about Femen will be quick to judge and brush it to one side. But for those who are unaware, who simply see two Arab women making provocative gestures to demonstrate their individuality and break free from the misogynistic society they live under, it's still only a good thing.

Many people will be the same as me, unaware of the apparent cult or misogyny behind the whole 'Femen' thing. They'll just see it as another activist movement representing women's rights, and dump it in their memory alongside things like the Arab woman who gained world recognition after driving her car by herself in Saudi Arabia. It's all helping motivate the women in that culture to break free from the shite they're dealing with. Regardless of who, what, how or why it all took place.

The actual event is what is it, and the results will be the same. Unless some kind of anti-Femen smear campaign comes along to put it in a bad light for no reason...

EDIT: Think of it another way. You're simply saying, "This is Femen therefore it's bad." What if it was two random Arab women who'd decided to do it of their choice? Same actions, same publicity, same result.

Also, I agree feminism is going too far and is a fucking bore in most places. I'm sick of some of the shite they're coming up with ('mansplaining', 'manspreading', and, worst of all, 'rape culture'...). But Arabland has still got a long way to go. For that reason, women on stage with their boobs out is more than just a couple of ditzy idiots getting naked for attention. It's gonna speak volumes over there.

No, I'm saying that because it's Femen, it's not got the socially beneficial motivations that it could have.

Most of the terms that you list are Tumblrisms, therefore to be immediately ignored - if you've not encountered the yawning chasm of an echo chamber that is the gender politics/SJW region of Tumblr, save your sanity and steer well clear of it. I only ever engage with it insofar as it's touched on by a different forum that I frequent, and some of the shit that bubbles to the surface of that pestilent hole is beyond repellent to anyone with an above-room-temperature IQ.

Femen = fucking loons masquerading as third-wave feminists.
SJW = entitled middle-class children and teenagers that rant about 'privilege' all the time, and frequently pose as people from disadvantaged backgrounds to try and lend credence to their claims. Nominally stands for Social Justice Warrior, but translates more accurately as 'totalitarian hegemonist'.
Tumblr started life as a photo-sharing mini-blog thing but ended up becoming a soapbox for the functionally retarded.

I look back fondly upon the days when people got a clout around the head for being a shouty weirdo, as opposed to a fanbase on the internet.
