reproofing a wax jacket?

Anyone ever reproofed a Barbour?

i've got a Bedale jacket that i use to wear to walk the dog an its looking a bit faded (jacket not the dog)

already bought the tin of thornproof wax, but heard horror stories of people putting too much on etc

anyone ever done it?

You'd think it would do it a couple of times, and looks easier than something gloopy in a tin.

The stuff ive bought (women was fit in the shop an couldn't refuse)

is good thornproof dressing?

you have to heat it up in a pan of water, then literally slap it on an rub it into the jacket. Too much an the jacket goes rock hard

I phone Barbour over them reproofing ti an they quoted 6 - 8 weeks

the dogs legs would have fallen off by then

I have done it many years ago and it brought all the muck out of the coat to the surface. my mates Mrs got too close in the pub and it got all over her white blouse in the tits area

Barbour sell a wax in a tin or in an aerosol.
If the jacket's only for tormenting the dog then the cheaper option Ozzie stuff would do me

was gonna 'ave a go tonight but chickened out last minute.

Barbour did say the wax stuff stinks so ideally do it outside...pffft its freezing out there

So im holding fire til the mrs goes out.....watch this space

When I first started to ride motorbikes 40 years ago the first bike jacket I used was a Barbour.It did need reproofing,so I went to the local Milletts store and bought a tin of the genuine wax.On the tin it did say to warm the item of clothing first and to spread the wax thinly.After each coating it was recommended to hang the item in a warm environment so that it would melt into the seams.

Unfortunately,my mum thought that it was dirty,so she washed it in her twin tub.Stupid woman.It completely ruined the jacket and no amount of rewaxing ever made it as waterproof as it had been before
