Thought I'd post a quick hello before I launch into questions in the appropriate section. I'm Josh, just picked up my first bike, (well, waiting for it to be delivered,) and im waiting to retake my mod 2 after a really niggley fail recently. Totally confident 2nd time out will be spot on and looking forward to getting out on my own. I've been driving for nearly ten years but grew up around and on bikes, feel like I'm just making it official.

It'll be great to have a resource like this to help me feel my way through ownership and maybe a bit of spanners.

Cheers! Smile

Welcome!
Good luck with your Mod2, sounds like you'll be fine with it.
It is a great resource of knowledge. With a smattering of healthy nutcases thrown in too.

Thanks! Good to know. Here's me thinking all bikers were sedate, quiet types that didn't like too much excitement Wink

Sometimes I mix a spoonful of real coffee into the jar of decaf. Cool

So, what bike?

After carefully weighing the options and being sensible I then chucked all that out the window and picked up what I wanted all along. I got a good deal on a 2008 street triple in white and I cannot wait to get my paws on it Smile

Always have a good flow of second hand bikes in and out but I don't know if I can justify handing over monies to such a place, suppose there's always the option of buying and never returning, either way be interested to hear how you get on or have got on with them as google reviews and general opinions are all negative.

I was given a bag of mixed advice from different people. Lot of bikers I know in Birmingham swear they're great, but then my instructor was a bit wary. I gave the bike a really thorough going over and really tried to find something wrong with it..couldn't.. no issues since. Been riding it for two days now and been running it for nearly a month in total and it's not missed a beat yet. They delivered it to my address, service and mot...iI have had it serviced again nearer home somewhere I know and nothing untoward came up. I probably wouldn't go to them for regular mechanical servicing or mot's. No need for aftercare so can't comment on that either Smile they won't be my local dealer or garage so not overly concerned now the sale is done and nothings come up.

Thanks all.

A week in, ridden the triple to work and around town as well as some countryside blasts, no issues. So happy with it, glad I saw everything through even though at times I struggled with confidence failing set tests.

Let that be a lesson to anyone struggling at the moment - you WILL get there. Trust your instructor and don't over think it
