Hello All,

Long time lurker and now time for my first post...

A bit of history...Hadn't ever been on a bike until May of last year. I passed DAS July 2014 and I love it!!!... I don't know why I waited so long!! I have ridden over 20,000 miles since - commuting and fun - and I wish I'd learn't to ride 30 years ago!!

So, I got a Fixed Penalty in the post today for riding in the bus lane coming up Muswell Hill. Sad I have used this bus lane for over a year without a problem. The camera is in the Bus Park on the roundabout at the top of the hill, and they followed me up the hill until I was facing away from the camera to get my plate - bastards.

Be warned!!! They are watching!!

So, you were deliberately doing something against the law, now you got caught and you feel like a victim? Thinking

I didn't say he was, I only assumed from the sad emoticon and the context, he was sad because he got caught. He felt like it's not fair he got a ticket and felt like a victim of the law obeying society. Thinking

So, nah, I've got nothing. Thumbs Up

I deserved the ticket and it is paid. Not a victim, just a little disappointed as I will now have to obey the rules and sit in the queue to the top of the hill - just like everyone else (no option to filter as double white line). As lots of bikes use the bus lane I thought I would share that they are now watching.

And Pepperami, thank you for the welcome.

So what is the necessity of Muswell Hill? The Archway Rd is bike friendly if N/S route.

Seems to be dependent on which council is in charge. Some you can, some you can't.

Bloody stupid not allowing bikes in but allowing pushbikes. How buses get around without running them over I'll never know.

Red route bus lanes (and therefore TFL controlled) allow bikes. The ones controlled by councils depend on their policy. It's quite ridiculous.

Muswell Hill works as I come down the M1 to go to Hackney - A406, MH, Turnpike Lane, Stamford Hill, Clapton, Hackney. Archway is a bit too far west.

That does seem silly since a push bike is very likely to hold them up but a motorcycle will not.

M1 J2 A1 to Archway
L St Johns Way (watch for homocidal Goldwing at the chicane)
R Hazelville Rd
L+R over Hornsey Rise onto Shaftesbury Rd
L Crouch Hill
R Mountview Rd
R Oldfield Rd
L Endymion Rd
R Green Lanes
You know where to from here.
St Johns to Green Lanes is 5 mins.
