so the previous owner of the little CBR250 I have decided that he wanted a very loud remus exhaust on his little 250. I hate it and want to remove it to put the original back on. trouble is i can't get the thing off.

I've tried bashing it with a hammer and tried a screwdriver to peel the tabs back a tiny bit but doesn't seem to make a difference. i've tried wiggling the end can, but the can is held onto the the link pipe by spring. There's some penetrating spray working it's way down there now.

any other advice.

This sort of Torch

Heat will expand the joint part of the end can and help loosen rust and carbon.

Don't use it inside the garage/shed/house as the penetrating shit you used will burn and stink.

Wrap a water soaked rag around the exhaust pipe part of the joint to help keep that part cool. Heat will conduct through the joint and heat the inner part up defeating the purpose of the blow torch. Sad

Even crushing a bit of ice and making an icicle bandage will look very proficient.

These pipes sometimes fit very closely and it is not simply the 'split' part of the end can joint holding it on. The exhaust pipe may be shoved into the end can by an 1" or more.

Clean the rust/shit off the pipe and (alternative) end can using 200 wet and dry. You can smear some Copper Slip (Molylube is better) on the inside of the can and outside of the pipe to help it come again off later.

edit: Undo the springs. Tie a string around the end of the spring and use that to stretch it.

Eyes, Balls and Fingers!!!! Shocked
