Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me out a little? iv been a car guy all my life but due to costs have switched to motorbikes. I am about to purchase a WK Sport 125 TT. I wish to change the gearing to improve acceleration and lower my top end speed. I know this requires changing the sprocket but which one do i buy and how do i change it?

smaller front sprocket or larger rear

Though as the bike will probably have a top speed of about 60 I wouldn't do anything drastic.

Honestly with the tiny power on 125 does not bother at all. The problem is you have so little power that in order to increase the low revs torque you will be also removing say 15mph from your top speed.

Otherwise you can change the front sprocket or the rear one or both.

Changing 1 tooth on front is the same as changing 3 tooths on the rear.

Usually we change the front one and make it with less tooths if you want more low revs torque. I have done that but my bike has top speed 136mph and more power. Means I have lost 10 mph only and added real oomph in low revs.

Note read gearing commander help well. When changing sprocket size you may need to change the chain lenght too.

Find sprockets that fit your bike. For example my front sprocket is JTF513

13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

Looking at the catalogue your brand WK is missing. That raises the next question:

Why anybody would buy cheap unkown shite poor build quality bad performance chinese bike with old Honda CB125 70s engine that obviously will be PITA to fix if broken and to find any spare parts???

Another problem is you will be changing gears a lot more frequently and you have to do this a lot in standard gearing anyway.

Just use the bike to learn on and when ready pass your test, that's what I would recommend.

Don't waste your time on a tiddler.

And don't start with the "it's all I want" tosh. Ride a 500cc+ bike, then tell us about your 125 racebike.
