Okay, so when ever i wear my helmet it makes my head itch like crazy!! It drives me mad, So much so that i have to pull over every 15 mins just to take my helmet off and give my head a good scratch. My helmet is a shoei xr1000 so its no cheap rubbish Confused

Has anyone experienced this before and have any solutions for it?

Cheers, Sean

How do you store your helmet?
Possibly dust has gone into your helmet?

I just checked the helmet on Amazon -
https://www.amazon.co.uk/XR1000-SYMBOL-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-HELMET/dp/B0034HPB5U

"Washable anti-allergenic 3-D interior"

Have you had any other helmets in the past by any chance or is this your first?

Cut the heads from 6 toothbrushes and velcro to inside of helmet.

I bought a Shark helmet (blinkin' expensive at the time), I would ride for about 20 minutes and get a horrendous irritation. Tried it over a few hundred miles, still the same. I was gutted. Loved the helmet. Was trying to work out how to tell hubbs that mega expensive helmet was giving me grief, and would probably have to get another!

Found a solution.
Felt around the helmet, under the lining. There were small nipple type protrusions right at the crown of the helmet. Rubbed them off and the itchy, horrendous pain went away.
Happy helmet days! Smile

I got to say rubbed off and nipple in the same paragraph without being rude! WoW Smile

Head lice?

If not, you could try wearing one of those thin balaclava type things underneath to see if that helps.

Change your shampoo or use something like Dermal lotion and rub into scalp. Could just be your hair style/cut.

If you hadn't washed your underwear in 9 months, what might be lurking in there?

Don't be a gyppo, give it a rinse.

Your hair has grown?

As a bald man during summer, and what can be called to resemble a Lumberjack during the cold seasons, My helmet is also causing my head to itch.

I put it down to the length of my head hair!

As has been said, try an 'itchy' scalp shampoo.

They are not cheap.

If you suspect something bacterial then buy some Hibiscrub.

https://www.boots.com/en/Hibiscrub-Skin-Cleanser-250ml-1-bottle_872185/

(Chlorhexidine gluconate 4.0% w/v is the working product.)

Then wash and condition as normal.
Remember the conditioner conditions the skin/scalp too. You can cause dermititus by too much washing. Shocked It washes out the natural fats
And the skin shrinks. Then itches. like fcuk.
