With my k100 project I'm going have to sort the seat I know I'm not that far in yet however it's worth thinking about. I was just wondering as this is going be a starter for my ultimate bike.

What is the best standard comfiest seat that you have known Question

Why don't you get one built for you using the frame of the seat you have now? Other seats will differ too much on their mountings for them to be worth while.

I still might do that, but I thought I'd ask anyway just as I was curious.

The seat is comfy to one and not to others. You 'really' would have to faph and do trial and error. With different padding and frames.

It has a lot to do with individual anatomy. Longer/shorter thigh, tib/fib, width of pelvis, muscle proportions (fat Smile) build of rider, sex of rider, How 'hard' the person is. Some can sit on a brick for hours and some baaaaw and need a baby shawl folded a certain way for them.

Maybe a bike shop will let you throw your leg over a few different bike makes/models/years and see what appeals. You can then ask a seat builder to copy some of the characteristics. i.e. the foam density, and fabric material.

It is not an simple subject but you did ask. Smile

Most folk just get on with what they get from the OEM.
Mostly you'd only get seat sore after a couple of hours on it anyway.
I don't know how those Custum Choppurh dudes manage. Of course most of them folk are on Speed, Crack, Mefs etc. Smile

He's not wrong, by the way. It's an actual seat, rather than a padded plank. There's even an adjustable backrest.

Perhaps not bodgeable onto a Beemer, but if you're serious about comfort then keep an open mind.

I've got a half fleece from Lambland on my Beemer, £18.99. Its like sitting with a naked botty on a silk cushion.

The seat on my RST1000 Futura was pretty incredible and all day comfortable both as a rider and pillion.

I bought myself an air hawk inflatable seat a few years ago. I find it very comfy, but it was stupidly expensive.

You are determined to throw money at it aren't you Sam?

Replace the damaged foam and re-cover the existing seat (with a black cover). Save yourself a whole load of pennies in the process.

No but its an 1150r if you google it. The fleece just tucks down the gap between the riders and pillion seat so its held in place and is the perfect size. If I stop and it looks like rain I just undo the pillion seat, chuck the fleece in the topbox and get it out when I get back on.
I'll try to do a pic but I'm I'm crap at stuff like that.

Pretty much anything with an engine and after years of enthusiasm for pedal-iron.

Ah I've got the R1100RS so I know what you are talking about I was thinking of something entirely different. Which gives me an idea for my seat.

Get the standard seat re done by Melvin Hunter (https://www.motorbike-seats.co.uk) I can't recommend his work enough.

I've had my Varadero seat done by him and it's a superb piece of work. To put it into perspective I rode from Lyon to South Wales in one hit (only stopping for fuel and sandwiches) and my arse wasn't sore at all, if I wasn't piss soaked through it would have been an extremely comfortable ride.
