Thanks mate .This has never happened to me before, but I know the taking of machines of all shapes and sizes are happening at an astonishing rate, and has always been high.
Bikes are somehow classed as 'unimportant' when it comes to 'loosing' them,as far as the authorities see it,imo.
The Officer who was 'allocated' to this incident was actually going on 4 days leave, beginning the next day!?!..
I asked them who would be taking over in the meantime, and who should I speak to if I had any additional info
'No one, you must wait until they return,as it is 'their' case' was the '101' number's reply!
Most of these machines are taken from almost anywhere, even those with 'sophisticated' security measures ,which is a worrying trend, especially with bikes being so low down the priority list. Why is this, and is it really giving the Green Light to the gangs who do this for a living,or maybe on the side? It does seem so,doesn't it? And if the Law seem so powerless, isn't it time for teams of dedicated bikers to get busy, within the law of course, and try and take them back, preferably in one piece (the bikes I mean) and to look after 'their' areas overnight, like a 'Neighbourhood Watch' on two wheels ?
To each that have their bikes taken away, not one is more important than another due to size cost etc..It doesn't matter. You are equally 'gutted' when it happens to you as it is to me,and you even feel for all the other's that are going on
It's not too dissimilar a feeling to losing a relative or a good friend, but can seem like ten times WORSE for some. All that hard work and dreams of a lifetime invested into a project that can literally disappear before your eyes,is a heavy heavy load to bare and until it happens to you,it's hard to explain.Violated, vulnerable and victimized all spring to mind,a terrible thing.
Where the hell are these bikes going, and in this day and age,why is Bike Theft on the rise? Who ,or what system is working for them and not for you and me ? Why is it still so easy?
In this day and age,it should be virtually impossible to even contemplate stealing a bike, let alone carrying the dodgy deed out, surely?
Hope we can stop this effectively some day,and that everyone is re-united with theirs ASAP
Cheers |

Will always be this way while ever we tolerate pikeys doing whatever the fuck they want with absolutely
no regard for others. But as a 'minority' they seem to have the same above the law status that seems to apply
to other such groups.
Decent people don't steal. Nobody decent took your bike, I can be certain of that. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

It's not just bikes..........anything worth anything that's not safely secured gets knicked in short order.
Sorry for you loss though, I've said on here before, there's not much worse than the feeling you get when you go back to where you left your bike and it's not there Shock takes over and makes you think you've left it elsewhere but realisation comes back with a bang. It's why we all hate bike stealing scum so much
Don't give up hope, I've found 3 bikes myself that were knicked, once resorting to getting the local kids together and waving a £20 note in their faces
I don't think the police find many stolen bikes, those they do were usually found by someone else that "rang it in"....then the police get the glory by ringing you up to tell you they've found your bike ____________________ Space Is Deep |

This is the third or fourth time this 'community' has been implicated in the loss of my bike.
Surely we shouldn't jump into stereotypical prejudices ,with no proof at all ,But to ignore your point would be equally foolish.
There is a site very near here, and it is something I have to keep in mind, and try to find out,as I certainly aim to do,one way or another.
Bikes dont just vanish off the estates (all the time),without some sort of recovery rate being possible.
Someone (and this must be at least 3 or 4 people and a driver specially with bigger bikes imo)is obviously being given free reign to carry out this activity,or do the Authorities just turn a 'blind eye' because it causes them too much hassle to investigate?
A white van seen in the area ,barely 10 minutes after the fact, was passing the police car sent to deal with me,that was pulled in at the side of the road to talk to me,actually (after my prompting!) went after it,only to return and say 'they lost it'..They didn't even get the number plate.Apparently.Maybe they've checked the site out since,or did so immediately,I just don't know, but it must have crossed their mind at some point, and it's not for me to discount this possibility just because it could be seen as a stereotype of 'Traveler' business ,in some way prejudicial to a 'minority' group,so I see your point and you make it well. |

Typical type of bike they target, white van seen in area, Police 'reluctant' to get involved with further
enquiries and a site just up the road. With minor theft being a crime typical of the scummy it's not
really rocket science figuring out what happened to your bike...
Reputations are usually well earned. It's just not PC to say so these days which inadvertently grants them
permission to do whatever they want to whoever they want. Hard working people with self respect,
standards and decent values do not go around nicking bikes.
Your thief was either kid, scummer or pikey or any possible combination of the three. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
If....when you get it back, try sticking a cheap alarm on it, just one that sounds the horn when the bike moves will do. I bought one from Maplins a while back for £2.65....or something like that....very basic stuff
Thats exactly what I intend to do mate,I'm also looking at sinking some security rings into the concrete and the wall.
Insurance will be used on security BEFORE I get her back or if I need to get a new one..
Pissed off really as such a useful and reliable little bike,But if I do get her back I expect there will be bad damage to sort out so I wont hold my breath ,but I like your optimism for it,so that's good with me! hh |
