Ok, so this is a bit of a long story, but someone I was once close to, who used to regularly post on here, died tragically a few months ago. He had seemed a bit sad before he died, which was really hard to read. We had lost touch recently, and his death came as a big shock.
But, reading his posts, he mentioned that an ex girlfriend who he was briefly with about 8 years ago, had been posting awful stuff on the internet about him. Anyway, I know who she is, so I looked up what this girl was saying, and she had been systematically abusing him over a quite long period of time. Honestly the stuff she has been saying is awful.
The thing is that this guy was one of the nicest, most genuine and kind hearted people you could wish to meet. He was just a lovely man. In all the time I knew him he never said bad stuff about people, he always gave others the benefit of the doubt. And he had clearly been really shaken by the stuff this girl was posting.
The difficult thing here is that although none of the stuff she is saying is true, she has some mental health issues and is clearly unwell. I don't know if she even knows he is dead because she is still posting her lies and vile accusations.
It feels difficult enough that this girl clearly made his life a misery whilst he was alive (he went to the police who said they couldn't take any action against her), but to keep on doing this even now feels horrifying to me. His family and friends would be devastated to read this stuff, and it's all completely fabricated. He really was a lovely, lovely man.
So my question is, given this girls mental health issues, what should I do? Should I do nothing, as maybe it's not my battle to have. Should I try and complain to twitter (where she is posting), but will they even do anything. Or does anyone have a better idea. How is it right or fair that someone can say terrible things about another person that are really hurtful and totally untrue, and be allowed to get away with it? It seems really wrong on every level.

Do you really want to get involved in all of this? She sounds like a right nutter who would probably turn and start on you if she found out you were poking your nose in.

People say terrible, hurtful, untrue things about others and get away with it all the time. It is wrong on every level, but is it really your fight?

Personally I would remove the source and ignore it. Pick you battles and all that.

if its causing you that much hassle report it to the police. they seem be taking things like that quite seriously at the minute.

Why get involved? Get on with your life. Twitter will censor very little, countless terrorists use it to glorify their causes without issue. They will pay no attention to someone calling your dead mate a cunt.

Either kill her or block her but either way move on. You don't have to read her deranged ravings, and neither does anyone else. That's a choice you get to make.

Of course, I possess a healthy scepticism about your random intertubes claims. We shouldn't take everything that we read online at face value, right?

What can be gained?

If what you say is correct, she has to live with herself. I've always considered that enough punishment for unpleasant people.

You can't slander/libel the dead so, unless she's directly trolling his family, the police probably won't be interested.

It's unfortunate but I think you have to just move on and ignore her.

I think your dead friend probably wouldn't have wanted you to put yourself through the stress of doing something about it.

I have not seen a dead member being slagged off on here so could you please give us names and details with links to the abusive posts or just gtfo our forum?
Thanking you.

You seem to be extraordinarily hurt.
Was the deceased's nickname Tritey?
