Pretty much the other day i broke down in the wet, and the recovery truck came and got me after faffing about for a while the guy got it starting but it wouldnt run when you put it in to gear it would stall
so took it home the guy told me its definitly a carb issue so stuck another carb on it a fully working secondhand one off my friends bike that he doesnt ride anymore due to band from driving

so took it to a garage and they told me it was my petcock valve which i then replaced and im still having an issue it will start everyknown and again but it wont idle heres a video half way through the video i turn the choke on and is that little gold thing suppose to do that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpxFvrDEug4

just to recap
new fuel
new spark plug
different carb
no side stand switch
kill switch off

i still dont think its sucking in fuel took the petrol hose off the carb and put it in a pepsi can to see if i was sucking in fuel and im still not! the only thing i can think left to replace is that inlet rubber but want to a couple of peoples opinions if possible everyone is telling me its a fueling issue

any help is appreciated
cheers
Josh

OK, fact check.

Take the plug out. Is it wet or dry?

Open the drain at the bottom of the carb float bowl. Is there fuel in there?

petcock valve

Is it a manual petcock, or a vacuum tap?

CMPO suggests vacuum:

You mean fuel was not coming from the tap at the tank through the fuel hose?

If you do have a vacuum tap, it won't flow unless the engine is cranking/running and you have a good vacuum on the line from the carb.

If it doesn't flow with the engine cranking then you've got insufficient vacuum (split hose, something hooky in the carb), the vacuum tap isn't working (split diaphragm), or it's been clogged with crud from the tank. Have you had a look in there to see if it's full of rust?

I'd be minded to bin the vacuum tap, fit a manual petcock and while you're at it, put an inline fuel filter in between the petcock and the carb.

this is my inlet from the carb does this mean my seals gone? is there suppose to be this much dirt

right above the engine part where the inlet go's there appears to be liquid and gunk im not sure where this has come from

and i cant access the carb float level due to a knackerd screw head but ill check that in the morning

EDIT: also i installed a new fuel tap

as you can see from the video i got it running and it will go forward still not sucking in air right so obviously im not driving it,

what i did was spray wd40 all over the inlet while it was attached and then use quick start down the air box and it finally starts and drive forward but whatever i do the revs go stupid high when i take the choke off and also they wont lower from 4k on choke im guessing with what i did i temporarily sealed the inlet and this means it was definitly the inlet and i need a new one? only sprayed wd40 on the front of the carb and the inlet

any help still appreciated this only needs to run until 30th novemeber then im buying a new bike!
