What's so funny? I bought the Quantum ST Pro(pictured below) about a month back and it came with that as standard, i've used a tinted visor maybe 90% of the time since then but the times i've had that clear one on i've had no issues. It works well, you can't see it when you have it in the up position. Arai apparently don't think the internal visors are up to their safety standards and fair enough, they do have a pretty good reputation to uphold.

Personally I don't think i'd buy a helmet with an internal visor, admittedly the first few I saw were shocking quality and that has stuck with me, but i'd rather the space taken up with padding and protection over some cheap sunglasses.

I can imagine that thing traps the wind when it's up.

I love my Schuberth with the internal visor. It's dark enough to actually do its job.

Not a fan of the way they look myself, but having tried one on at NEC, from the inside they appear to be good... not sure how wind noise would be with them in the up position though.

I've got tinted visor on my Shoei 95% of the time, and got a flip up visor with an internal sun visor... most of the time in the day I'll wear a tinted visor on that AND the internal sun visor down.

much like the dual sport helmets really, not quite sure why they chose to do it externally. I've had helmets with the flip down sun visor inside but really never liked them. Just get a good tinted visor for sunny days.

PS anyone who says peaks catch the wind must have zero neck muscles. I've got an AGV AX8 and can happily do.. ahem.. 70 on the motorway and not have any issues at all, even doing shoulder checks.

I hate tinted visors.

I use an electrical tape sunstrip.

I agree, and would happily wear a peaked or not aerodynamic helmet for road use, as I'll never be going fast enough to have issues with 100mph wind noise etc. MX lid on the road for the looks and all that!

My issue with such helmets especially on say a 70mph 125, is would an MX lid turn such a bike from a 70mph bike to a 68mph by way of the extra wind resistance, or is that the biggest load of bollocks you've ever heard? Laughing

There's a massive world of difference in 125cc land between 69 and 70mph IMO.
