It fails to mention that many bus lanes have already been opened to bikes, following trials which showed that this improved road safety. So it ought to say that this rule change should be applied to many more bus lanes. But never mind, it's so badly written that I doubt a civil servant would bother to finish it.

^^

This x 10

I did't bother to finish reading it and I'd support the use of bus lanes.

Can already use them here round the Bristol/Bath area. Thumbs Up
On your test round here you are expected to use them too.

The in-credible thing about ePetitions is that anyone can start one.

What a complete derp.

I support the drive to use bus lanes, but he's not getting my signature.

I wonder if the Op is referring to a certain area with bus lanes, I can ride a motorcycle in any bus lane at any time in NI.

Already got plenty of bus lanes in London, so they already have the right thinking in several places, I see no need for any more petitions.

I do like a nice bus lane that lets bikes go in them.

Mind you, I hate that one along Millbank where its "No bikes in the buslane" until you get halfway along towards Lambeth Bridge, and then it changes its mind.

AND THEN when you get over the roundabout its bloody bicycles only with the big fat blue stripe all the way along the Embankment. Bloody stupid. Make it one thing or another. Wallies! Rolling Eyes

But only on TFL-controlled red routes! The borough councils can't be arsed to change their signage or reduce the income they get from bus lane cameras. Sometimes half way along a road it stops being a TFL red route with bikes allowed in bus lanes, and reverts to an ordinary council-controlled road with bikes banned from bus lanes at peak times. The road layout and the traffic conditions are just the same, only the rules are different. It's mental. TFL research proved that allowing bikes in bus lanes is beneficial, but the councils sit on their arses. If I had the money I'd take them to court.

Waterloo Bridge is the one that I don't understand. It's bus/taxi/cycle-only going north, but the bus lane's so full of cyclists in the morning that you end up stuck behind buses in the regular lane. Southbound allows motorcycles, so why not north?

It is quite annoying when there are cyclists in there.
But after all, they are more vulnerable.

Agreed, it's good that they can get out of the traffic - just a bit annoying that we can't share the lane, since it's no use to buses/taxis anyway.

There are bus lane cameras https://penaltychargenotice.co.uk/bus-lanes/ I suspect they are responsible for nearly all the tickets . I got one once - no points but an irritating fine. You might find a map of the ones in your area if you google.

All bus lanes in Coventry are now available for use by Motorcycles.
