Made the mistake of selling this a couple of years ago and missed it terribly. Fortunately I sold it to my sister who lives in Hitchin. So two weekends ago I went and bought it back. After a nice, 90mph, 14,500 rpm cruise down the motorway, I remembered why i never should have sold it.

The custom paint it wears is just as lustrous as I remember it.

Every inch the archetypal mini blade.

I'll have to remind myself not to let this little screamer go again.

I purchased it back for 2k. A 200 quid increase in what I sold it to her for. Seen as how there is a slightly ropey mc19 single disc version wearing a gulf paintjob on chinky fairings for 2750 on the bay (the only one on there) i don't think i'll lose money on it.

Sister isn't for sale. Not that i know of.

An nsr motor would likely fit, the cbr is closely related to and shares it's designation (Mc22) with the nsr.

I may be picking up a zxr250 in the next few days in dire need of help.

Not uncommon to see mileages of 150k km+ on these and yes, there is a rev limiter. It kicks in as the tacho is reading 20750 rpm. Honda build quality around this time was simply unbelievable.

C-dug, the tacho does probably over read. Redline is at 18, tacho stops at 20 and there is a dot at roughly 20750 where it hits the cut off. Even if it over reads by 1500 it's still mental.

Honda had to pick up it's game after 86ish after the chocolate cam debacle in the VF.

Yes, it runs gear driven cams.

No, the motor is a clean design built for the capacity. This is why the motor in the MC22 is rated for 45hp, and the CBR400 motor is rated for 55-60. The 10-15 hp difference is quite heavily offset by a 40kg weight difference between the two, performance is 'lively' for the capacity to say the least.

On the discs, the mc17 and 19 had single discs, the 22 had duals. Pre mc22 1990 the bikes were rated for 40hp, post 93 they drop back down to 40. This one is part of the three year rrl/rrn run that had 45hp from the factory.

Whilst I understand that you're probably referring to the revvy noisiness, FAIL! What's all this about motorway cruising on such a bike? Confused Razz

Lovely thing though.
