Bought a car a month ago from a main agent (Honda CRV)

Car has developed a grumble in the rear diff - looking on google there are shed loads of posts about it.

So book the car into a local Honda dealer (as its under warranty for a year), they take a look at it an confirm it needs a "diff flush" an will cost £200 an isn't covered under warranty as its a "serviceable item"

bit naughty I thought that, So i ask them would they do it under warranty as ive had the car about a month etc etc, they said no chance...but anyways i bought the oil off them an did it my self for £20

cant really understand how a grinding noise can be solved with changing the oil in the diff but hey ho

Is it a serviceable item? (do they do a diff flush at any service interval?)

well it was last serviced last year (way before we bought it), supposedly it needs doing ever 15k miles but cant find any mention of it ever getting done in any of its services....its currently on 30k ish

its only ever been serviced by Honda aswell.

I can live with paying £20 for some oil an a bit of tubing, but thought it was a bit naughty to to say Nope.

also noticed loads of forward an backwards movement of the whole diff - im sure thats normal Shocked Laughing

So did the oil change fix it? I would quote the Sales of Goods Act.. although for £20 I would just take that option to avoid grief.

take it in to another Dealer, dont mention warranty or other garage,
ask about diff noise and mention the movement,
get quote / advice off 2nd dealer and go back to 1st dealer if they dont match.
