Just to add salt into the wound the UK government gave him a million compensation.

Such a good guy such a great caring person!

Let's be clear, he was initially detained and put in GTMO, not because they thought he was a terrorist, but because they thought he could tell them about how the Taliban treated prisoners and their interrogation techniques. Then they kept him detained there for 2 years with known terrorists. They later suspected he might be a terrorist but by their own admission they didn't actually bother to question him about that.

What did you expect would happen?

We could try an experiment and lock you up for 2 years with some crims, see if you come out normal.

Funny enough we do have somebody who was incarcerated.

Was found innocent and claims to have gone overseas to join an overseas military organisation.

He seems quite a reasonable chap.

Incarceration without trial is an excellent way to create terrorists. Worked quite well in Northern Ireland.

This is the same chap whose family recently returned from allegedly trying to persuade him to return to Britain from Syria. They had been bawwing on C4 news about how they were all innocent, and how he was trying to get away from ISIS. Uhhh huh Rolling Eyes

But on balance of probabilities this guy went in a terrorist and came out a more determined terrorist.

So you're prepared to trade provable guilt for "Meh, looks guilty to me"?

It worked very well, when internment was introduced the levels of bombings and shootings dropped by nearly 80%, strange thing is that the convicted terrorists who did stand trial got early release if they promised to be good little boys, as if that was ever going to happen.

Liberals: free the Gitmo thought-prisoners.

Sane people: will the Gitmo thought-prisoners blend?

Yes, very sad, should never have happened. But it did, and here we are.

We've going to have to whack anybody who shuffles out of it, so why not do it while the cost is just a bullet and an hour's shovelling?
