My many year old cooker (Hotpoint GW62) has developed a problem where it keeps blowing the fuse (3A). Note the main fuse box doesn't trip, it's just the fuse in the plug that pops as soon as I plug it in. I've just gone through four brand new fuses.

It's a gas cooker with gas oven and grill. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I've done some interwebbing but most similar issues are occurring on electric cookers that use heating elements.

Help, advise or solution appreciated.

Thumbs Up

The wires to the sparker have shorted. Wear and tear can chaff through the fibreglass sheaths. A washing machine neat the cooker can vibrate the floor enough to provide movement for this. The wires should be routed and clipped into place to avoid sharp edges but who knows what effect time has had on it.

May be a bad flex from 220 outlet to cooker.

Have you still got the manual for the pig?
