I would be worried about the legality of that and the ability to buy 12g blanks without a licence. If I was of that mind I could convert it to fire live 12g cartridges in less than an hour that would burst in a very indiscriminate manner. Even if it were legal one day you, your wife, your kids or your dog would trip it by accident.

Not full size cartridges.
But one could still fashion a 1/2 decent Shiv with them.

It's perfectly legal until you adapt it to cause injury/discharge something/Ignite the fuel.

These are nothing new, they have been around for years.

I don't think the police will see the funny side of it, when they dispatch an armed response unit because one of your neighbours has reported hearing gun shots.

Err.. quite possibly; when I was at uni, studying mech-eng, and had my bike nicked for the 3rd time; I designed a 12-bore ignition switch!!! Let'em hammer a screw-driver in THAT!

But, no...

Never really thought how much a box of 12-bore cartridges might cost; where I grew up, they littered car oddment pockets, or lived loose in large leather satchels or plumbers bags... And I recall them being about as 'cheap' as a cigarette.. so even given punitive taxes on fags these days, I wouldn't have thought a live 12-bore shell would be more than 50p, hence surprise, and wonder, whether these 'blank' shells were more expensive than 'live' ones?

And you answer
"I caught 2 pikeys trying to steal my bike, they fired a gun at me and ran off that way"

When they rush off in that direction it buys you some time to hide the evidence!!

When I am out shooting and Doris McCurtainTwitcher rings 999 to report 'a man with a sniper rifle roaming round' 9 times out of 10 PC Plodicus turns up in his panda car, 1 time in 10 the ARV boys turn up foaming at the gash. My alarm mine has gone off a few times when someone has forgot to disarm it, rozzers never turned up. *In fact the last time the ARV lot turned up, I had been shooting crows since 5am with 2 friends, rozzers summoned by a dog walker at 6am, ARV found us at about 8:20 AM.

Overall tho I agree, it's a silly idea tbh.

Civil litigation for scrotes hearing damage in 5,4,3,2....

I've never understood this rule which makes it appear you can own a shotgun without having a certificate. My old man went shooting for years and had shotguns and he's convinced you do have to have a licence for one.

The text is in relation to a firearms certificate, for a shotgun you need a shotgun certificate, hence a shotgun being exempt from a firearms certificate.

So while blanks are exempt from an FA cert that dousent neccesarily mean they are legal or not exempt from other legislation regarding say, explosives etc?

12 gauge blanks work out at about each if you buy a few hundred.

Be prepared to be shafted on all kinds of technicalities if you use such items in a built up area. They've great for a farm / isolated cottage / anywhere you'd prefer to use a claymore.

Worst case scenario is you convince local scum you are a gun nut and they attempt to force you to reveal the location of the gunsafe they think you have.

Use with caution.

Good point. Locally to me a breakin occured and a shotgun and ammo was stolen. We're all hoping some bike thieves have a falling out and one of them goes postal on the rest of them, fingers crossed. Very Happy
