I'd also imagine plod would ask why your numbers aren't showing up in their headlights although I suppose you'd have to be pretty unlucky to get caught.

This looks like a new version of an old idea which didn't really work. Reflective "Magic Plates" and aerosols used to be commercially available but IIRC the camera operators only had to wind down the image contrast et voila!

You could do as the local yoofs here do and put your foot over the rear plate as you speed through a camera..

Best one I've seen yet is a rear plate on a bracket mounted to an actuator that flips the plate up at the touch of a button

One thing though, it won't work during the day time and IF police pulls you over at night time to make the routine check and shines their flashlight at the plate, you have got yourself a couple of points of your licence and ticket, maybe ban in some countries of the EU.
