I had a phone call from the Hospital at 8.30 the other morning to say that they had looked at my MRI and CT scans and found clots on my lungs so get yourself in here with an overnight bag.

Panic sort of set in fearing the worst Sad but it transpires that it is quite normal in heart failure cases and they need to put me on blood thinners (anticoagulants) to clear the clots and for about 5 days I have to self administer by injection or until the tablets kick in, which hopefully wll be after my next blood test in a couple of days.

It transpires that at some stage in the past I have also suffered a heart attack (which I was not aware of) and which is different to heart failure which is my diagnosed condition.

I know there have been a few PM's sent to me, so my apologies for not het getting back to you, I have had my mnd on other things, but I will respond in the next few days

I have been teetotal for over 20 years and I gave up the smokes back in April before I was taken ill.

Condition (Heart failure) is for life.

I was joking about the booze an fags. Smile

Your medical folk may have told you or you do already know this.

Heart problems due to infarct can be greatly helped/reduced by diet, moderate exercise and avoidance of stress. Though that is much easier said than done. Embarassed
Though not as efficacious for 'electrical' conditions it is still true for everyone.

A heart by-pass is cool too.

God Bless the NHS and (almost) all who work in her.

Hopefully the injections will cease after my blood test tomorrow, but I have been told that the Warfarin tablets are for life. I can handle that as it is just one more tablet to go with the other tablets, its the self adminstered injections thats is doing my head in, as its not just one injection at a time, but two.

Got some lovely bruising across my stomach to match the pin cushion there and in my arms now Rolling Eyes Embarassed

If I were to snuff it and my wife wasn't around, I am dam sure that the initial thoughts would be that I have been shooting up an illegal substance Shocked

I for one will be demanding a post mortem on you.
It's the kind of thing that BCF insists upon.

I have Dilated Cardio Myopetha. They tell me that it is genetic, and it can hit anyone regardless of their fitness levels, and regardless of whether someone smokes or drinks.

I found out that my Great Grandfather died frm it, my Grandfather died frm it and my Uncle died from it, all aged 61. But as the cardiologist states knowledge and treatment has moved on a long way in the last 14 years.

My daughter was advised to be checked, and now has to be checked every 5 years.

I am just fed up with all the needles. Pills I can handle, needles is a different matter

cardiomyopathy
It means "sickness/disease (pathy)
of the muscles (myo)
of the heart (cardio)"

I think that's what big Ronnie (BuellRon/Scottish forum) died of, if I recall correctly, aged only around 45 or 46, too, bless his grumpy old self.

Hope they get it under control for you, TC.

I've been to the hospital today, warfarin isn't suitable for me so they have put me on Rivaroxaban 26 mg. They will review it again in March, but at least no more injections.
