Gel Seat Pad User Review

Bought and tried this gel seat pad off ebay described as 'motorcycle seat gel pad gelpad gel cushion with 3d air flow by I-Tec industries'. Bought medium size to fit Bonneville solo seat. Not cheap and not up to the job. Given it a few rides. Left me with @rse ache on my sit bones. Removed it after 40 motorway miles on latest trip and rode next 40 in less dis-comfort. It is claimed to spread the load, but it can only spread as far as the outside of the unit where it creates a pressure point. In fact I have less dis-comfort when I wear padded cycling shorts, which of course are designed for a different style of seat. A seat with better overall foam is next on my buy list.

Try two pound shop beanbag travel pillows duct taped together. Wink

used a Gel seat pad' & not good enough either...switched to Airhawk 2 "whoopie cushion" Laughing

much better' rode 722 miles in 11 hrs without a hint of my pelvis turning to dust...although their twice the price of Gel pads.

My Diversion has a gel seat rather than a pad, seriously comfortable bit of kit. No idea where it came from as I bought the bike with it already there but I'm a big fan - even my overweight 6'6" frame doesn't get a numb arse.

+1 on the Airhawk recommendation. Expensive but really does the job, I was sceptical but have had my mind changed completely.

I also have an air hawk seat cover and I find it very comfy. The only downside (except the price) is that it holds water. So you'll want to cover it or take it off when it's left in the rain. I usually just chuck it in my top box if I haven't got a 5p plastic carrier bag handy.

I too was lured by the gel pad marketing crap. After a couple of European trips I realised that it did nothing and bought some £10 cycling shorts and hey presto, they work Thumbs Up
