Bought the VFR a year ago, and the Scottoiler had air pockets in the pipe, then a pipe got disconnected and without the vacuum it ran dry. I've been using a spray but since that's run out I bought some fluid today and eventually managed to force the liquid through the pipe. I have it on full prime but it was still struggling to come out. The bike is filthy - I ride daily and don't get much time to do any work on it never mind clean it. Got stuck in around the pipe to make sure there were no blockages and found this:

Previous owner appears to have put a piece of wire in the pipe to get it round the corner. Now before I set aside time to take this apart and sort it, is this normal? First bike so not sure but never seen this before.

Also, I tightened the chain up as it was a little loose after being changed a few weeks back, and when I ran the engine and engaged 1st, there's a weird clicking sound coming from (I think) the front sprocket area. It's only when in gear, and I don't have the experience to know what it could be. I can take the side fairing off and get to the sprocket no problem, but don't want to start fucking about with that just in case.

The air is in the hose because the reservoir has managed to get empty or near empty. When the res is topped up and primed the air should simply flow out with the oil.
The system only needs a vacuum to hold the metering valve open. No vacuum the valve closes.
The units are more or less bullet proof.
But like all stuff problems happen.

Your !st port of call is Scottoiler's website.
They are very decent folk and enthusiastically assist you with any problems.

There are some very basic issue that must be correct at the install and set-up stage. The website has fitting and set up PDFs that you can easily follow.

The wire in the hose is standard designed to hold it in place

The noise from fort sprocket area Me I would take the sprocket cover off and check the sprocket
