I've been having a look at the Triumph Tiger 800 XRX and XCX and it seems that the XCX has 'better' suspension :

XCX

Quote:
FRONT SUSPENSION WP 43 mm upside down forks, adjustable rebound and compression damping, 220mm travel.
REAR SUSPENSION WP monoshock with remote oil reservoir, hydraulically adjustable preload, rebound damping adjustment, 215 mm rear wheel travel


Vs XRX

Quote:
FRONT SUSPENSION Showa 43 mm upside down forks, 180 mm travel
REAR SUSPENSION Showa monoshock with hydraulically adjustable preload, 170 mm rear wheel travel


Realistically does it make sense to worry about that for what would primarily be used as a road? There appears to be no adjustment on the front of the XRX and just preload on the rear.

The XRX is the road biased one with mag wheels and smaller diameter front is it not?

Personally buying to do UK or European touring I would go for that one. Touring north Africa or more serious off road the XCX would be my choice.

I would hate to keep spoked wheels clean though Cool

the original XC also had different suspension to the standard tiger

Yes, you're right, the XRX is the road variant. I was wondering if the fact that the suspension is more adjustable on the XCX would make it a better ride. XRX has the same suspension as the XR.

Out of the box, most people say theStreet Triple is better than the STR suspesionwise because it is simpler. I can confirm that until i had my STR suspension set up professionally I was not happy with it. Sometimes, unless you know what you are doing, more choice is not a better choice.

May be the same?

I also was looking at Triumph last month.

Actually there are 6 models XR, XRX, XRT, XC, XCX and XCA. XRT and XCA are new 2015 models.

Based on wheel size difference all XR models will work better on the road than XC.

XC make sense only if you do offroad.

Actually there are 8. There are now also the XRX-LRH and XCX-LRH, which are lower versions.

Nope. Lots of people prefer the feel of the XC on the road, it handles much closer to the XR than you would expect. Ride 'em both before you buy.
