Hello,

I have bought a 2007 CPI XS250 Of an old friend, when I bought it I knew the bike wasn't running so got it pretty cheap (A risk I was willing to take)

He advised me it needed a new CDI unit and he previously bought this one and it worked.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-CG-DC-6-Pin-CDI-Unit-50-250cc-Motorcycle-Scooter-Go-Kart-Bike-4-3-Way/121720080722?_trksid=p3693.c100102.m2452&_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140212121249%26meid%3D6c917366e1554ddf95479d1752550184%26pid%3D100102%26
I purchased one of these and got the bike running for around half an hour till it cut out again.

A family friend is a mechanic who has a tiny bit of experience on bikes and said he'd take a look.

He believes the problem to be with the carburettor, and says we need a new one. Does this sound like it could be it?

Secondly, I have rang CPI and they have said they no longer make or sell them, So could I buy a universal or a carb the same size to fit and work?

Apologies if this is confusing or If I have not posted enough information I have never had a quad or bike before and don't understand the mechanics that well.

Thanks in advance.

Carbs are not a part you should just replace. Strip it clean it and see what state it's in.
