I ride a CBF125 and noticed that only when I brake hard, there is a clicking noise as soon as the bike leans forward. To me it feels like its the handlebars as though something isn't tight, but I don't see, feel or hear anything abnormal at any other times. The forks are in good condition with no leaking oil or any signs of distress.

Does it only happen when the bike is moving? If you just hold the front brake and bounce the forks, do you hear or feel anything?

Thanks for the reply guys.

It only happens when I'm stopping from speed (i.e. above 5mph). I've tried replicating it at low speeds but I can't. I think the click happens sometime before, during or after the shocks are absorbing the energy of the stop, but its definitely just as I come to a stop. From observation I cannot see anything loose or out of place. The seals are in excellent condition.

Did you check the headstock bearings? Get the front off of the ground and pull the forks towards you.

Mindful not to put you off the scent but i remember i had a YBR125 which would 'click' on hard braking, but only when it felt like it.I tried replicating it by pulling and pushing with wheel up but couldn't it.
My mot man also suggested it could have been the headstock bearings but that obviously the click only happened under lots of load.
