Who's the worst bike insurance company?

Going to be renewing insurance soon and out of general interest after seeing lots of topics of people having issues with insurance, which are the worst insurance providers?

I've said it before, and again. They're all robbing cnuts (as companies, not the people who work for them) who know that as motorist we have to pay an unavoidable legal fee at their choosing of figure, donate no more than you need to and to the cheapest option, sorted.

Don't have brand faith and don't think there's such thing as loyalty with insurance, get your proof of no claims and move on if there's someone quoting you cheaper.

I also usually do some background checks on the insurance companies website to find out cancellation costs, adjustment fee's etc etc. It turns out in my one experience that making an adjustment on a policy that's fully paid for is cheaper than adjusting a monthly paid one, so if you can save money by buying the insurance in one go then do so.

Looks like MCE again for me (insurance due within a month or so) as they're the cheapest quoting company by £86, I can use that money to spend on RAC motorbike breakdown cover and then still have some saved over in comparison to the next best quote.

Set the mileage on your policy as high as possible and keep refreshing the quote, stop when it increased price.

I'd only go with MCE as an insurer of last resort. Even among a cower of shunts they seem exceptional.

...except it's not so much unique as extinct. They've disabled their online management and only provide a phone number.

Also, why aren't Hastings on the list.. IIRC LINK they tried to sell someone's bike when they hadn't even made a claim - so they deserve a slot.

If they're the cheapest then I'd still go with them. When getting quotes find out how much admin fees, etc etc are.

When getting car insurance shortly before I was meant to be moving house I got quotes for however many weeks living at this address (good postcode) and then moving to whatever the new address was (not so good postcode).

I phoned them the day before moving to let them know the change. Then the following day when it fell apart at the last minute so I phoned the insurance people to say that I'm not moving after news. It turns out that because on their system I was already showing as living at that address so changing me to living back at the good postcode meant I was due a refund.

Yes I'd agree that MCE have the worst customer service, they make the most mistakes and are generally pretty bad in my experience.

MCE were fine for me in that they were the cheapest. How they would have been on a claim is another matter.

Thing is, on my narrow boat forums we have the same shit, which is the best insurance company and the answer is.....

The one that pays out without argument on a claim.

I doubt if any insurance company passes that criteria, whether it be cars, bike, boats, home etc.

arry, would it be cutting your own throat to recommend insurance to us as you are the guru for it here?

I had a problem with Swinton. Apart from the constant junk mail and Spam. They phoned me up and told me my insurance was due for renewal very soon. I told them I was at work all weekend and would not get chance to look at my policy so asked when it expired? Erm, 12 noon said the fellow on the phone. sign up now and get cash back! I decided to drive home with no insurance (apparently) only to discover I still had two weeks to go.

I've never made a claim but crap like that just annoys me.

Surety and IAM - work for each other, certainly not the customer in my experience. Tried to gang up on me when claiming. My excess was suddenly twice what was agreed on phone when buying policy and original docs, only when revised docs were issued after a minor unrelated change a little while after the policy started the xs was more than doubled without any notice or discussion. When I had a claim Surety refused to budge and IAM said they stand by Surety's decision. Only when ombudsmen involved did Surety accept the originally agreed xs.
