Do you?

Unless you have had a dyno run done that analyses the exhaust gasses - or you at the very least least do a plug chop - you're not going to know, and neither is anybody else.

Since you really just want re-assurance that it won't do any harm, I hereby reassure you, in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, amen.

Baffle out in mine is ridiculously loud and the bike has no engine braking, thus mine stays in.

Mine certainly runs smoother lower down the revs.

Since changing my exhaust on the Hornet I noticed a distinct lack in engine braking too.

Baffles in FTW. Without them it's very antisocial and it gets very boring very quickly.

I had LeoVince exhausts on my STR. They were stupidly loud without the baffle in.

Also, from what I remember from the waffle I got with them they were designed as a straight replacement for the standard cans with the baffles in.

Make of that what you will as I don't think end cans make much difference if you don't have the bike mapped.

Chipwood, don't believe anything anybody tells you. The only way to find out exactly what's what is to get to a dyno centre and test your bike with lots of different setups. You could start with baffles in versus baffles out, but also test with the stock exhaust, and with and without any other mods your bike may have, e.g. to the airbox or ECU. I guarantee it will be fascinating and instructive. If you're confused by the possibilities the guys at the dyno centre will explain - just take all your tuning parts and your standard parts. The centre will already have lots of test results from other people's GSR750s to compare with.

P.S. I assume that when you say 'fuel jests' you mean 'jets'? Jets are part of a carburettor. Your bike doesn't have carburettors, it has fuel injection.

End cans make no difference to how new bikes run, I had to get a full exhaust to get any gains/sound. It does look pretty awesome though Razz

He's not far wrong. On a new bike with a cat all of the back-pressure has already been created before you get to the silencer so most of the work has been done already. Changing the end can is of little consequence, bar acoustics.

The bike may feel similar but the end can will make a noticeable difference on a dyno graph, and the results will vary considerably according to the model of bike.

Can't you stop talking bollocks? What are you on? Your posts about helmets had zero logic to them, now you're on the subject of tuning and you're spouting rubbish which you say is based on impressions of two bikes. (You don't mention a dyno so I assume you test bikes by the seat of your pants.) I've spent countless hours in dyno shops testing cans, full systems, chips and ECUs because I was in the trade, developing and selling exhausts, plus I worked with half a dozen race teams, two of which I rode for. You're so ignorant it makes me want to weep. If you had even the slightest understanding of the subject you might start by explaining the relationship between noise/emissions testing and power delivery. Can you do that? Or do you know sweet FA?

No doubt the manufacturer will claim they are. When it's the "official" exhaust sold as through the marque as an accessory to the bike, I expect some work will have been done at least.

Both of these bikes have been tuned on the dyno.

You're telling me that race teams simply change the end can huh? right...

As for the helmet thread, wanting a bluetooth helmet with a decent visor without having to add on accessories has no logic? The logic is I'm searching for a helmet with a specific set up and asking if anyone knows of any. Get off your high horse and be less arrogant.

Lol. Sounds like the mentality of a cunt.

I doubt the cans on my bike affect it much even after a remap. Never noticed any real world performance changes on any of my bikes.

Roger, I'm more confused by your rating than anyone could be by my post, assuming English is their first language.

Simply put, the cat is far more restrictive than anything in the end can. Changing the silencer alone has a negligible effect on exhaust gas pressure leaving the cylinder. A seat-of-the-pants dyno will not pick up the difference on most motorcycles.

Biggest difference I've noticed from changing exhaust (no remap) is worse fuel efficiency, and that's with baffle in. I did it for sound though.

If you have all this insider information, sharing it will improve the knowledge base and help to explode some myths, so why wouldn't you do that?
