Probably because they have too much money in the first place. It's what I say when I see watches bought for £20,000 plus. Personally, I'd love to own a piece of Sheene memorabilia.......the whole "collection" thing is a bit strange I guess but very popular....not just with bike stuff....anything. I've got a piece of Berlin wall, friends are interested when I show them it but at the end of the day, it's just a bit of concrete and if I didn't know for sure that it came off the wall, it could be from anywhere and people would still be interested in it. Pieces of memorabilia are somehow a window into the past, I supose it makes things more believable for some people and connects them to something or a certain event. Clothes in general stand out as memorabilia as they are part of the image of someone, when you look at a bike racer, 3% of what you see is his face, the rest his leathers. Also, I doubt that Barry Sheenes member stayed inactive long enough to collect any smegmatic deposits
