I agree 100% on spending out on very trick cool parts for small bikes!
So what's in all the Takegawa box's then? Can see a lumpy cam and shiny piston, but explanation required for a total noob please!
I took the KMX out today for a couple of miles, and I've decided that I want to try and get a small billet 4pot caliper for the front brake (AJP Trials style thing) and also I want to convert it at some point to a trick digital dash.
I've got my recently ported 200cc top end stashed away too for 2016's breaking the 30bhp barrier or bust project! |

Takegawa Shock, stock is crap, doesn't even have preload adjustment
Takegawa 181cc Big Bore Kit with Modified Fuel Injection controller
Takegawa Super Oil Pump, needed if you want to fit an oil cooler (handy if going up in size).
Not shown here, but I also have a Kitaco Clutch Cover. This is rather cool as it deletes the oil spinner and removes a KG of weight allowing it to spin up faster, however that isn't the main reason. This, as I said, removes the oil spinner and the cover has an integrated oil filter, making changes easy. As currently the cover has to come off to clean the spinner.
The little display is an OpMid. It goes on in place of the bar clamps and shows Volts and Oil Temperature.
I've fitted the OpMid as it's easy and did the other bike, will upload a picture in a bit. ____________________ Currently: Yamaha DT 125 LC2,Repsol Fireblade, and Bumblebee MSX 125 |

So last week, this happened.
New shock, fork oil changed for heavier weight fork oil and air gap changed. New clutch cover, with oil spinner delete (1KG saved). New heavier clutch springs installed, properly serviced and lighter than before. 181CC barrel, piston and cam installed. Fuel injection controller added to handle extra capacity. Performance Air Filter and Airbox mods.
Michelin City Grip Winters, which hopefully won't kill me like the standard Vee Rubber nylon ones.
It has so much more torque and with the oil spinner delete, spins up much faster. Really good to ride.
So far, no noticeable fuel consumption change, but I am taking it easy with the engine at the minute. I've done over 100 miles since Friday and no issues.

It's the torque you notice the most, so punchy in it's normal usable range. The MSX feels like it's geared incorrectly as standard, as you can't get anywhere near the limiter in top. Though I haven't got that far yet it's easily pulled to the previous top speed achieved slightly downhill. About 71. I've done 71 on the flat and 60-65 comes up easily, whereas before it was ok until 55, then started to crawl. These are all indicated. I was never interested in top speed as such, as on my commute it's mostly <60 with a section that can go up to 70 but about 1-2 miles.
So far, fuel consumption hasn't changed, though only now am I able to use more of it as it's nearly done 200 miles. At 500 it will get an oil change.
Matt B had a go, tried the two back to back, albeit briefly. He was impressed. He likened it to a 250. Which I guess may not be far off as most 250's would be a lot heavier than the 100Kg of this. Especially as it's shed a few KG's. Li-On battery (needed to give it more cranking amps for the higher compression), removal of oil spinner and carbon fibre exhaust system.
Riding in this morning, it was perfect on the Michelin City Grip Winter's. It was pretty wet too, didn't really hold back, it just gripped. ____________________ Currently: Yamaha DT 125 LC2,Repsol Fireblade, and Bumblebee MSX 125 |

My only surprise is that it's an air cooled motor in 2015, and one with fairly minimal finning on the cylinder like the old C50-90 engines were.
I just hope there's enough cooling for the 180cc to run well and stay reliable, though if there is, then yeah a 20bhp MSX sounds incredibly fun to me! |

Shame, I quite like these but want something thats rev and go. Mrs grr did her CBT last year, but really struggled
with manual gears, she completed CBT on a twist and go in the end but wants to find her feet so to speak
on something very simple to ride before attempting another geared bike. I should add she was a complete novice
on two wheels, she never even had a pushbike growing up. I do really like your yellow one though, I prefer it to the Repsol one tbh. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

18bhp must be fun on a little bike like this, and i stress the word little, they are even smaller than they look in the pictures |
