 |
|
Hi All
Posting for a friend.
A friend of mine has been using Pirate Bay and Bit Torrent for some time. ISP has threatened to disconnect due to all the torrent traffic and complaints from various companies citing copyright etc...
What would be the best way said friend could continue to use Bit Torrent and the Pirate Bay etc without the ISP knowing where the traffic was coming from and what the traffic was for?
I have done some googling for my friend and from what I can see the best method would be to use a VPN.
I stumbled across BT Guard and watched a few You Tube videos and it looks ok. Open to suggestions if anyone uses anything themselves they would rate.
No problem with paying for it if it all works.
If you used BT Guard's VPN service, once connected to it, from what I read and understand my friends ISP wouldn't be able to see what sites they were visiting or what exactly he would be downloading.
Would that be correct?
Could they still tell from looking at the traffic that is was torrent traffic and if so, would that be sufficient to terminate his/her internet?
I understand that the companies wouldn't be able to latch onto his/her IP as it would shows as BT Guards IP and not his/her own ISP's so they wouldn't get any copyright notices?? Which hopefully means the ISP won't get too worried.
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated - not very clued up in this area.

Which ISP is this?
If he's been getting complaints from copyright people then he's download the wrong torrents.
BTGuard is a good enough VPN provider for torrenting. |

It is a satellite internet ISP, a small one.
Previously had Talk Talk wired in and they used that no problems.
Several months in with this new ISP and having the notices and complaints. Problem is the bill payer is nervous and would like the torrenting to stop.
One of the most recent torrents was a Mission Impossible film.
If the VPN will hide the traffic from the ISP and whoever tracks the torrents and logs the IP's then hopefully everyone can continue as they are
I wouldn't want to see him / her get a VPN and use it and the ISP still say they can tell all the traffic is torrenting and cut them off. |

The ISP will still be bawwwwwwwwing about the amount of bandwidth used.
Fuck paying for usenet. If you want to pay for access then go with one of the pay per leech topsites and if you choose the right site then you'll have pre times so fast that your eyes will water. |

Ah yes, automating the downloads of tons of stuff that you don't actually want, I remember doing things like that. |

Well it would be a shame to not utilise as much of the 2TB as possible ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

AirVPN are excellent. They have a large number of servers in multiple countries and aren't that expensive. |
