New to the forum, hello all

Hi all, new to the forum and thought i'd say hello. I'm knocking on 40 now and dreams of my younger days on a DT125 prompted me to get back into biking after a rather long break. I initially thought a 125 would be plenty (as the 2 strokes i grew up on were more than enough for me) and dropped on a YZFR125, got my CBT done and away i went.

A month later however the craving for more power came to the forefront and the theory test was booked. I now have my mod 1 next week and a date for my mod 2 of FRIDAY THE 13TH

Any info on Hornet vs Fazer is appreciated as these are my main choices for my next bike, thanks.

Nothing really wrong with either of the bikes you mentioned. I have an old W reg Fazer hack that has been used and very abused and it still laughs in the face of adversity. Can't fault it.

Hello and welcome

More or less the same engines.

There are different Hornet models including faired Hornet CB600S.

Assuming you are asking for the naked Hornet and for the proper Fazer FZS 600.

Hornet has higher pegs and lower seat.

Fazer has fairing, higher and more comfty seat.

Anything over 80mph on Hornet is a no go because of the wind blast.

Fazer is good for anything, commuting, motorway and even touring. The Fazer has better 4 pot blue spot brakes, really old Hornets pre 99 has gold pot, the newer ones has 2 pot calipers.

Hornet has frame made of cheese if you crash it its gone.

Hornet is used by weekend boy racers

You can get cheaper Fazer.

So it depends what is the purpose of the bike?

The FZ6 S2 is a better bike all round than the Hornet. I had one for years and like Val said, it will do anything. Did a bit of touring on mine in Europe and it coped well enough for a 600. Put a decent set of tyres on them (Michelin PR3 or PR4) and they handle well enough.
