Hey BCF.....

2 Questions, how often do you change your Cam chain? Or can you get them tightened???

Second, on average, how much does it cost to get one tightened or replaced?

This is on a 2006 R6 btw, if you needed to know.

And I realise I can ring around, but just after a people experiences first.

TY

Good shout, it is slightly noisy on a cold start up, the noise goes away after it warms up.

The engine was overhauled 3 races ago or around 400-500 miles ago.

lasts .. usually the life time of engine.. unless its been ragged to fcuk..

iirc.. not overly complicated as the chain is on the end of the cam shafts..

imo.. 3 hours @ £75 + vat = £270 labour ..

parts £150 ish .. chain & guides .. = £420 ish

this if off the top of my head so phoning around would be your best bet

Again, the tensioner is a great shout, I don’t know what it has on it at the moment, hopefully a manual one. But I will certainly be tinkering with that tonight, thanks.

And yes the bike has been ragged to fcuk, it’s my race bike so wear and tear is high.

it may be worth while measuring the set number of links to see how far the cam. chain has streched.
