At that time.....when Leary came to fame, if you had more than a certain amount of LSD in your system, you were classified as "criminally insane" by the courts and your trip could get very bad indeed. Not all his ideas were fairly tales...he had some good ideas....and took a much better look at life than his nemesis Charles Manson...or Reverend Jones. Probably because before burning out the cortex of his brain, I think Leary was an intelligent man and well read.......oh, and not a murderous psychopath, which helps. Aye, out of al the drug fuelled cultists at that time, Leary was one of the relatively harmless ones and inspired some great artists and thinkers.

All the LSD available in Britain in the 60's came from a 3g batch cooked up by Leary.

Most users reported overwhelmingly positive experiences. It gave us the psychedelia music movement.

With the exception of people taking huge doses "bad trips" didn't really start rearing their heads until the late 60's/early 70's after that batch ran out.

Interesting to note Timothy Leary, who probably took more LSD than any human being in history died in bed at the age of 75 of prostate cancer.
