So, long story short; I crashed the Varadero back in August (the day before I was due to take my test!), broke my leg and now have a lovely piece of metal running through my leg to show for it. Having now almost recovered, i'm planning for a Mod 2 attempt next Summer.

Question is; I passed Mod 1 & Theory but my CBT will expire in the next few weeks. Does this also invalidate my Mod 1 or can I simply retake my CBT and then my Mod 2 within the 2 year theory validity period.

Ta.

other posts on this forum suggest that all you need do is renew your CBT, as this only validates your licence for L-plate tomfoolery and is unconnected to your theory/mod1 status.

Pretty much as said above. You need a current CBT for each module. You will not have to do another mod 1. Just another CBT.

All correct. You may be thinking of the insane-in-the-membrane situation that expiry of your theory pass ostensibly invalidates any extant mod 1 pass.

Although how they'd check or why they'd care is beyond me as long as you have both a theory and a mod 1 pass within the past 2 years.

It would be fairly east to check that the Theory test was dated before or after the Mod 1 test.

As to if the would care or not is an entirely different matter

When I done my test, I had theory, Mod1, and then in that time my CBT had expired.

I spoke to the CBT place and told me I had to have my CBT, to take my MOD2 (my MOD1 was still vaild, but not without a CBT, and it must be done within 2 years before the MOD1 expired)

So they gave me 6 hours of lessing instead of a CBT, and gave me a CBT certificate.

They done this for me as a favor, as I booked my orginal CBT with them, my new CBT with them, and took my MOD2 with them....

So in answer to your question, yes it is vaild - But not until you have a CBT.
