I know you specifically said "no reg needed", but I would just use PokerStars.

You don't have to deposit to play with play money, they don't send you tons of useless emails, and it's by far the most-used poker site in the world.

If you're planning on playing with real money at some point as well, knowing your way around the Stars client will be useful.

Any site that doesn't require registration is going to be shit. And you can't really learn poker "in a classroom" - the only way to learn is to play hands. Lots and lots of hands.

Source: winner at $1k PLO over >1m hands.

Agreed with Pokerstars. Place to be.

However: Sky Poker is full of plebs and it is easy to make money in the low stakes, Double Your Money sit & gos. These DYMs require you to finish in the top half, to get double your stake back. If you don't already have a Skybet account, I would recommend opening a Sky Poker account and using the massive bonus. You can think of it as free money and grind through a serious amount of games (which are over quickly), it will also teach you to play tight.

Once you've got the hang of it, move to Pokerstars and play properly where there are a lot more players/games/tournaments and the skill level is a lot higher.

888 is also very fishy. But they don't spread any real big limits any more.

Another plus for Stars is the variety of games - even using play money.

DoN games are soul-destroying. Play regular SnG tourneys! In fact, I'd recommend tournaments to a new player. Cash games are a lot harder to figure out. Basic tournament strategy is easy.

Learn NL Texas Hold'em, then try Omaha and PLO8, maybe some Courchevel, maybe some mixed games, maybe some PL Hold'em.

The lesser-known games are much easier to beat, and I think knowing more games just makes your regular NLHE game better.

Also, once you understand the rules, I strongly recommend depositing $40 and playing $2NL as soon as you can.

Poker only makes sense for money. Without the risk of actually losing something (even if it's just $2), the game makes no sense at all - and if you fuck about with play money too long (other than using it to learn the rules), your game will end up being shit. Guaranteed.
