So at the age of 39, last Saturday i sat my CBT and passed (somehow)

I have both Mod1 and Mod2 lessons prepaid for, so before that I need to do my theory test.

I've been a car driver since i was nineteen and I'm worried that bad habits may come into play.

I'm looking for the best guide/practice to the theory test & also the hazard perception test. Also, how long would you recommend studying for before taking the theory?

I've bought my first 'big' bike too, something cheap, nothing flash!!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

There are apps you can download for the theory test. Keep practicing them whenever you have time. the more you practice the questions, the more chance you will remember them on your test.

Hazard perception videos you can practice online also. these are easier than you think......

Hullo. I bought “The Official DVSA Theory Test for Motorcyclists Book” second hand on Amazon for something like £1. Most of it is common sense then I spent two-three hours learning the answers to the less obvious ones (if you find a casualty, etc etc). There are also free mobile apps and official mock tests online. The hazard perception is easy enough these days, especially if you have road experience.

Download the DSA theory test & hazard perception test practise CDs from your local torrent website.

theory and hazard are so easy, just read the book you can buy and do a few hazard tests online for free, week or two studying for 30 mins a night and you should breeze it.

I got the driver test success dvd when I passed my car test in 200....and something. years ago. Practiced using the same vids on my bike test this year. As others have said, much easier on the new videos

I just turned up and did it. No practice. Took two attempts. First time I was one mark short of passing the theory part and got near full marks on the hazard perception - hadn't done anything more than watch the DVLA guide on youtube. Second time got exactly the pass mark for the theory and again aced the hazard perception. I think from memory the hazard perception pass mark is only about 50 out of 75, so you don't really need to excel. I think if you are like me and have been driving for a number of years, you probably know enough to get through with minimal stress - a lot of it is common sense such as when approaching a lorry should you

A) speed up behind it beeping your horn and shouting get out of my way
B) Pull a wheelie
C) Flash your headlights and make wanker signals
D) Slow down and give the lorry plenty of space, keep in sight of the mirrors and be very very careful.

You get the idea...I guess I failed by a mark the first time though so there were enough slightly tough questions to make it a bit of a challenge.

Hello , I passed my DAS last year MOD 1 second attempt, foot down on u turn, MOD 2 first time. 25yrs driving cars, 16yrs driving class 1 trucks. It's a different skill set to ride a bike, so your roadcraft learnt through experience will help , mind you this doesn't always apply to car drivers, the main aim for many just seems to be to get from a to b without hitting anything. Bad habits hopefully won't effect you too much as you should be very busy learning the new skill set required to ride properly. Listen to your instructors you can't go far wrong and don't go in with the frame of mind that you know everything just cause you've driven a car. As you know good roadcraft comes from the fact that driving or riding is a continual learning experience . A good couple of hours with the DSA theory DVDs should see you right.
