Hi All,

I've got a GoPro I use with my drone and figure it's a sensible idea to start riding with a helmet cam.

Anyone here used the adhesive GoPro mounts (the 3M VHB official ones) on their lid? Is the lid OK?

I'm paranoid about the "never put a sticker on your lid" and so a bit worried about doing it!

had one on mine for ages. no problems.

if you mount it on the top, at high speeds it will feel like its trying to pull your head back.

I've never actually seen such advice. I think it's apocryphal.

I was thinking of side mounting it, where do you have yours? Also, what sorta speeds we talking about?

I ride a naked ER5 and so don't tend to go above 80mph but there is lots of wind at them sort of speeds!

my go pro lid has it on the top. my drift lid has it on the side.

go pro lid starts to pull upwards at over a ton, drift was fine up to 150. sorry, but i cant comment on a side mounted go pro as i haven't tried it.

3M sticky pads on 3 helmets, "motorway" speeds, none of them have assploded yet. I've also removed 3M pads from them without leaving any markings, which is a good sign that it's not a solvent based adhesive.

Why not try a chest mount?

You can DIY one from some parts of the box your gopro came in.

3m sticky pads on all my lids for my SJ4000. Triple figure speeds they remain stuck firm.

I stick mine to the righthand side of my lid so it gets a reasonably central view of the road. I become mildly aware it's there at over a ton.

I'd go chin or chest mount anywhere else on the helmet would be horrible unless you go for a bullet style camera.

Drift Stealth 2 is OK, at least for aerodynamics. Battery life can eat a dick.

You can buy a nifty little case containing 15 different chinese knock-off camera mounting solutions and the sitcky pads for a tenner delivered on ebay.

Buy one from a UK-based warehouse VAT dodging scumbag for teh 48h deliveries.

Just bought one myself for my ion air camera (which I have converted to go-pro style mount to take advantage of the above cheapness). The kit looks strong enough to hold together while being flimsy enough that the mount will be the first bit to let go (rather than the camera or whatever it's attached to).

just jumping in to save starting a new similar thread - I've got a drift ghost s (bulkier than the stealth), I too have been wary of sticking a sticker on my lid, but its good to hear thats not a problem. Might sound strange (I'm new to all this, only passed my test yesterday, picked up my bike today) but does it being stuck on the side cause any problems except noise? such as problems turning your head at speed etc?
Ideally I'd like to have tohe option to actually mount it on my er-6f but I'm struggling to see where to put it

Why stick anything to your helmet at all?

GoPro skeleton case, bit of foam, velcro strap. Job Done.

It isn't perfect, but it cost less than $5 so who really cares?

You'll be aware of it at higher speeds but it's not exactly a problem.
Unlikely to cause any extra noise in the helmet.

The optimum position is on the side more or less at eye level if you want it to show what you see. This also minimises the extra movement as your head moves about.
Mounts are inexpensive so you can reasonably have other mounting points permanently on the bike e.g facing backwards or down near pegs - depends what the purpose is really.

I used Sugru to attach the mount to mine, absolutely rock solid with a little cushioning from the rubber
