Someone hit my car in an ncp multi story whilst I was manning a careers stand on Wednesday in Sheffield. They were kind enough to leave a note explaining what had happened with a name phone number and two addresses but no registration number. I'm trying to get a no fault claim processed and she's not answering calls or responding to messages. I'm guessing there's nothing more in can do?

Do the addresses exist?

Do you live near to the addresses?

Just as a possibility, you could try contacting them over the weekend. Bit of a long shot I appreciate but as it's been less than 48hrs since they left the note, I wouldn't give up yet. Wink

And I assume you've already made a request for the relevant CCTV?

NCP = Neutral Thumbs Down

Have worked for (not at above location), would avoid like the plague their car parks attract more local yobs, druggies, shagging teenagers and drunks than anywhere else. Also the procedure I had to perform when someone’s car got keyed was to fill out an incident form and take the details, nothing happened.. guy just kept going on about how much his car panel would cost to replace. CCTV is non existent where you need it.

Could always use them for free parking to get your own back.. grab a fire extinguisher of the wall and place it on the entrance weighing scale, press the button on the machine and get a ticket then drag it all the way along the floor on the other-side when the barrier will come down then get back in your car and drive to the exit, you get 15 minutes.. Thumbs Up

Providing there's no CSA's around (jockeys in hi-vis patrolling car parks).

+1

But do this before razing the address on the note.

They just wrote a note for appearances, bastards. Seen an old doddery cunt do the same after reversing into a parked car. Lucky for the owners I took a picture of the car as it was leaving the scene. He 'wrote' a note too but it was just a blank bit of envelope.

No house razing required, just spoken finally and confirmed reg. Sounded very forlorn and young. Presumably imagining next years premium.

Felt a little bit sorry for her, but not sorry enough to not ring the claim company to arrange for my replacement car and get the damage assessed.

Headlight bracket is snapped, the whole headlight moves freely in the mounting now but works OK. Fog light surrounding bodywork is totalled and presumably dropped out on the way home as its now missing, but again the light is OK. Bumper is a mess where its obviously been hit with some force back onto the hard stuff and punctured in a few places, cracked around the fog light.

Could have been much worse, if it was just the headlight bracket I would have just bought a new one and replaced it myself but the bumper would have been pricey. With the force its obviously been hit with id like it properly checked out. Lucky non of the lights were smashed I think.

Still rumbling along. Spoke to claims company today and admiral have still not accepted liability after 6 chasing calls. Damage assessments done and told we will be processing via insurance....not a private repayment job....no word from the girl who hit me since. Renewals coming up. I hate complications.

Unfortunately this will reflect on your insurance premiums for the next 5 years too.
Apparently if your vehicle has been involved in an accident, even if it was not your fault statistics show you are at a higher risk to then go on to have an accident that was your fault Rolling Eyes

The system is shit.

Your lucky, I had a lad hit my wife's car outside our house, got name, number and reg.

Phone number went dead the next day, insurance couldn't trace driver as car came up uninsured and the police were as helpful as a chocolate teapot. I even got a vid of driver driving the car but police told me to leave it as I'll only make trouble for myself.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and insurers definitely note your non-fault claims, but I'm yet to see any sort of premium hike after one.

Uninsured or untraceable driver?

https://www.mib.org.uk/making-a-claim/

Increased insurance costs because of someone crashing into you? Well that's something to add to your claim.

You mention speaking to the claims company, I really hope that isn't some paralegal claims management company. If it is, ditch them and get some proper solicitors to handle your claim.

It's only been a couple of weeks so I wouldn't be getting too worried about the insurer not yet accepting liability.

No word from the girl who hit you however I don't think you should be expecting to hear anything from her. She's handed it over to her insurance company and they're not going to want her discussing it with you.
