Hi

The style and apparent metal thickness suggests to me that it is from an older British bike. The fuel taps at the very back suggest possibly mounted at an upward angle.

Nearest I can find to it is the tank on this bike (which appears to be custom made):-

All the best

I would guess off an old custom chop type bike.

Whether that was a one off though, I wouldn't know.

The style would be correct for a Brit machine but the tunnel would be seen from the back of the tank (in all cases I can think of) whereas the shape of the top of this tank hides the tunnel.
The pictures don't give a lot away but the tank does have the hand fabricated look and the lower front of the tank has a steep angle on it so, as Polarbear suggested, a custom job, in the bobber style would be my guess.

Something like this mebbe....

Cheers folks the fuel cap is plan chrome but I didn't have much of a look at it
I guy I know has it and wanted to get another couple but didn't know what to search for we were hoping someone would be able to say it was off a factory model but I had a feeling it was a custom job
