Anyone know how to remove subtitles from a Torrent?

There doesn't seem to be any extra files in the folder that I downloaded them to, and the controls in media player don't work.

Previously I've just deleted the subtitle folder.

Its a maximersk torrent if it makes any difference, Thrones Series 2.

Sometimes they're (hardcoded?) actually part of the video file itself and cannot be removed.

Try using VLC and turning subs off. That usually works with the ones contained inside the file. If they don't then only over way is download something else or try editing the .mkv file.

'A mate' tells me that GOT without those bloody awful
hardcoded subs can easily be found.
Reading the comments usually warns you about HC subs
+1 for VLC if its just an srt file that can be turned off.
and an ingrish audio track selected if John Snow starts jibbering like a bloody foreigner.

The filename (if its from a respectable group will tell you about subtitles too) Also it might say in the NFO files that come with the releases!

GOT.S01.E01.720p.HC.HDTV.x264-DUD3

So what we have here is The show name, Season, Episode #s, resuloation, and HC meaning harded coded subtitles, then source, codec and to finish up the group name!

So what is the name of the file you are trying to watch?

Edit: you'll only ever find the tag HC is P2P release, it's not required for scene(warez) release.

If VLC doesn't work, try GOM player. https://download.cnet.com/GOM-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10551786.html

It's a great program but you have to be on the ball when you install it otherwise you get lots of shitware.

Just download another copy of it that doesn't have subtitles.

And as everyone says, use VLC Media Player. Wink

Tried a code splitter, didn't work. For me. I am useless at these things

Files have HC in the name.

I'm on episode 7 now, so will download series 3 without HC in the file name.

Takes me ages to download so wanted to avoid downloading again

First result on there seems to download quickly enough, it'll be finished in 10-15 minutes.

There are two types of subtitles, open and closed. Closed captions are optional and you can switch them off. Open captions are burned into the video stream and cannot be removed. You can do something about closed captions, but if they are open captions you'll be best off trying to find a source for the video without captions.

I watch so much foreign TV, that I no longer see them.

I've also learned about 10 words in Swedish without realising.

MKVs someone times have subtitles built in into the file, but not hard coded.

You can turn them off in the media player usually. If the media player is showing they are already off means they are hard coded.

If I'm looking for a film and want subtitles, I used to try and find an MKV, but kodi lets you download them on the fly.

Not sure that adds much to the this thread though.

Not sure if serious..................
I use VLC player almost daily and never seen an ad
unless you mean the ads that pop up when playing some files
that might have originated from a tv series and been part of the broadcast.
Can't blame VLC for those

Anyway, leave my VLC alone!
MPV means Miniature Penis Vomit and VLC means Very Large Cock so there.

+1

never seen an ad on VLC at all, it's the best player there is.

Plenty of tv torrents are digitally copied straight from cable tv so theres a lot of channel advertisements hardwired into the picture, but never seen any that come from VLC itself
