I've never been there but it can't be worse than the Motorcycle News forum, surely?

(Speaking as a MCN refugee.)

Quote" Since Mr Soup and I took over this forum, we have spent well in excess of £8,000 on keeping the place running, getting comforts to meets for our members and various other bits and pieces that keep the place ticking over. I would say in the same time period we have had approximately £1,500 of that back in advertising revenue and donations.

What we have got back is meeting some wonderful people and making some exceptional friends. We have seen the forum through ups and downs and enjoyed seeing members who began as strangers develop friendships that have also enriched their lives.

I have had to take legal advice twice over this forum, because of people's unsavoury behaviour and threats.

I have had to involve the police in the forum 4 times, and have had members and myself receive death threats. I have also had to contact servers, and ask that people have their internet service removed because of these death threats.

I have had to make sworn statements to the police, and contact social services on more than one occasion.

During all this time, the members have been blissfully unaware of what has been going on, but have been very quick to complain about my secrecy.

I have lost count of how many disputes I have resolved between members.

I have seen dear friends meet, marry, have children, divorce (not all), and sadly I have had to attend funerals too.

I have had to make decisions that a lot of people didn't like and I have put up with their insults, complaints, whines, and a level of pettiness that I didn't believe existed. I bit my tongue for the general good of the forum and to try to keep the place ticking over. I've done this for several reasons, my love of biking and bikes, to honour the memory of my dear friend Gixxer, and to give others an opportunity to find the friendships and riding buddies that Mr Soup have been so very lucky to find.

This forum has shown me the very best and the very worst of people.

I have learned a great deal about myself from this experience, I am a very giving and forgiving person and there are people out there who would take the shirt off your back, hours of your precious time, anything for nothing, and then come back and demand more and more and more. When they have had their fill of what you have to give or you do one thing that they don't like, they will stab you in the back, berate you and insult you beyond belief. Then have the audacity to blame you for their disgraceful behaviour.

The last thing I am going to give you all is notice that I will be closing this forum on the 15th of December as a birthday present to myself.

So I suggest you get all the contact details of the people you want to stay in touch with. Re-read the bits of the forum you have enjoyed. Post any dates you want people to note in their diaries for meets next year and finally for those of you that do nothing but complain, quit whining and go ride your bike.

Take care and ride safe

Soup."

So what happened in 2010 to cause the decline in posts on there?

It's cute that the admin wrote a tearful goodbye, who knows how you'll be notified that BCF is closing. Shocked Laughing

Which UK bike forums have been going for longer than BCF? Visordown, MCN & probably some others...?

I too have considered closing this forum.

I have had to involve the police on 324,386 occasions this month....If I've told Ste once I've told him a thousand times.

Family members received death threats.....from myself.

I have attended over 200 funerals. Not forum related..I just go for the free food afterwards.

GCHQ use a fibre optic cable directly into my home. Blows a hell of draft through the letterbox.

RogerBorg steals the duvet during the night and doesn't put his undies in the washing basket.

Wherever I go there is always a red dot trained on my forehead. Turns out it's a forum member..Oh Hetzer you rascal.

I have received human waste in a tupperware box. Thanks again to Ste and do you prefer bank transfer or Paypal?

This forum has shown me the very worst and the very very worst of people.
I have learned a great deal about myself from this experience, I am a masochist.

So I suggest you get every existing detail including blood group, DNA profile, fingerprints, place of work, address and bank details of the people you have always hated (PM CaNsA for info).

Take a hike and ride like twats.

Korny

It'll be on the TV. Footage of a human chain of police in white suits tranferring evidence-bagged server equipment into the back of a white van.
