I think of myself as white, but I'm on the darker side of white. My mates at school used to joke I was an Iranian goatherder. On the 0-6 skin tone scale rated me at 3.5, cue another round of jokes of me being "over halfway black".

I fancy a go on the 23andme site when I have a spare 100 quid to see where my genetics are actually from. My dark skin, hair and eyes is in contrast to the rest of my family

I'm southern european coloured, ie I look like a spic (although I looked more like one before my beard turned grey) but that is probably because in my family I have Spanish ancestors. It seems from my mothers family tree research that some ancestor of mine was partial to spanish sailors.

Funny that I am the only one of any of my family I ever met that has that skin tone. Or did mother fancy a spanish waiter on the side when she went on holiday

One good thing is I never sunburn, just go brown.

It's funny how skin color doesn't really have that much to do with being "white" or "black". I've seen plenty of portuguese farmers who are way darker than many people considered "light skinned blacks" in the UK/USA. Are they black, no. They are just dark skinned euros, with euro facial features etc.

I don't think racial discrimination should really be a thing. It should be 'discrimination' and it should be left at that.

The reason I say this is because it's unfair on those who get picked on for other more subtle reasons, which still boil down to it being a case of, "Well you're a different type of person from me so I think you're inferior." For example this Irish bloke might be quite racially similar to the white, English-speaking Jeremy Clarkson, but it's still quite easy to use a certain choice of words with a certain tone of voice and imply a very obvious prejudiced opinion.

Suing him is OTT though. Just get angry or ignore him or something.

I reckon the guy could make a reasonable case for damages due to the assault/insult combined with the negative effects of the subsequent publicity/ hoo ha on his career, but playing the racism card is stupid and trivialises it

That would mean the Irish, Scots, Welsh and English are all seperate races which is absurd.
