Hi all

I've got a clicking type noise coming from the front brakes that I'm hoping someone might be able to help with , had similar. Like said it's a clicking that seem to be coming from the inside pad , the loose one , piston is on the outside. I thinks it's about once every rotation and gets quicker with speed , but if I strip the caliper and refit everything it stops for a while , but restarts. I've checked the disc which is a fairly new one and that seems fine.
What I think is the pad is moving on the pins in the caliper and I'm not sure how to solve properly , the bikes only a little Chinese 125 but this and a leaking fuel tank are last things that need doing and I know where that's leaking just got to find a proper solution. Anyone ?

Thanks , Adam

Add some copper grease to the back of the pads on the metal. And on the sliding pins.

Job jobbed.

Hi

I do already use copper grease , shouldn't really need doing every week or so though should it.

Thanks , Adam

Is the disc perforated?
Is there a bit of gravel in one of the holes?

Loosen the caliper bolts and remove the caliper.
Clean the mating surfaces and bolt it back on.
If the bolts have been slack or the parts were assembled with shit/paint under the mating surface the caliper can move a little.

Well itll probably be the pads clicking or a possibly warped disc. If the lever doesnt pulse under hard braking its not a warpy disc!

You could be missing an antirattle clip. Best thing is look on ebay or make your own up! If you take the caliper apart you willprobably see cutouts where its supposed to go. Usually the clip pushes on the rear skinny part of the pads.

If not supply pic.

Could be worth cleaning the pistons if it uses more than one.

It just uses a single piston on the outside of the forks , no pulsing and a new disc , it's just a very simple calliper. I'll try to sort a pic out over the weekend

Thanks , Adam

Hi
Here are a couple of pics of the caliper

What I think is happening is that the holes on the pads ( pic 01 ) are oval , these are fairly new pads and that's how they came , and the pins are round letting the pad click. There is a anti-rattle piece on the outside pad ( against the piston ) but not the inside one. I've wrapped a piece of duck tape around the pegs for now to try to cushion it abit , still moves freely , as I can't see how to fit anything else. There's no burr on the pad in pic 1 it's copper grease and in pic 2 the cover isn't missing I'd just taken it off , and the piston and slides move freely.

Thanks , Adam[/img]
The pads need to be able to slide freely on the pins - so don't wrap tape around them.

The pads clearly don't fit well on the pins, meaning they can move around too much. Get a new set of pads from a decent manufacturer (not Chinese bike spares budget pads). When you change them, clean the pins with some high grit emery paper and then give the pins a smear of copper grease.
