I am looking to buy a new bike

I am looking to buy a new bike. I am interested in the Kawasaki ER-6F or the er-6n or the Yamaha xj6. The prices are around the same around 7000 euros. The only thing that puts me off the kawasaki is the 50cc more because of the insurance I have to pay around 70 euros more than a 600 which is a rip off. I like the xj6 but if I'm fed up with inline 4 noise I like the lowdown torque of a 2 cylinder. If the kawasaki have been made 600cc I definitely choose the kawasaki. The kawasaki gearbox is very smooth compared to the yamaha. I also like the Honda cb500x but it costs the same as the others and the engine is low on power so it is out.

What are your opinions?

As you say you do not care what engine is in it (except the insurance rate), you shouldn't be buying something just because of the general consensus of complete strangers on the internet. Also, if you keep the original exhaust system, even the xj will have enough low/mid-range torque there, as it was tuned to work this way.

Go sit, have a test ride on various motorcycles before you buy something.

I wouldn't buy an ER6 for the torque, because it doesn't have any. It's an inline 2 cyinder rather than a V twin. Personally, I'd rather have an inline four.

Interesting opinion on the 07. A guy at work travels in on one all year round and it seems more than up to the job. Certainly looks and feels better quality than the GSXF that it parks by the side of by some way and it doesn't feel much different to other bikes I've been around.

Where is the xj6 made and is it as comfortable and light as the fz6?

Do as we all do, go and have a look at bikes you are considering. Have sit on them, have a test ride if possible, consider.

Comfort is a very subjective thing, I for instance found all the motorcycles, I have ever had a go on, comfortable. So I would assume the XJ6 is as comfortable as the FZ6. Both commuters, both made to cover distance. Those two are no purpose built pocket rockets, if you know what I mean.

I'm also tall and I ride small bikes every now and then. I used to own a CB-1, 200 miles at fast pace was not a problem for me. If it's your wrists that hurt, you are sitting on the motorcycle wrong. If it's you back, time to start do push-ups when you don't ride, to firm your back muscles.

I need a second bike to use it on sundays and have some fun with friends with it. I don't need a 600 as such. I am a bit interested in the 2015 Hyosung GD250N or the 2015 Kawasaki 250SL which is 3000 euros less than the XJ6 and 3600 euros less for the Hyosung. For everyday commuting I have a ybr125 which does the job very good. I don't have long distance to go to work 22miles back and forth altogether. I never test rod the 250's but I rode a 2004 fz6s which was a beast and too much power for me although I have been riding the ybr125 for more than 3 years. I need something in between. I test ride a 2002 honda xr400r which has around 30hp and felt the power was right for me. Should I feel the difference between the 125 and the 250's? Also my friend have a 2015 cb650f. Does he leave me in the dust with a 250?
