As Surbitom as said, you'll get bored of a 125 soon enough and want more power.
I'm in the process of getting A2 license.

To expand, I did the whole CBT/125 thing too.

I planned to:

Do my CBT, mess around on a 125 for two years, then do my full licence after those two years and get a bigger bike.

What actually happened was:

Did my CBT, messed around on a 125 for two years days, then did my full licence after those two years a month later and got a bigger bike bored to tears by the 125 almost immediately.

If I was doing it all again, I've have done my DAS right at the beginning and skipped the L-plate/125 bit. Assuming you're old enough, buying a 125 if you're planning on doing your full licence anyway is a waste of money...

unless you want to be a perpetual L-plater... in which case let me know when you'll be out on the roads so I can avoid you.

tl;dr do your tests.

I had a few off road bikes as a kid..... Prob will just go the whole road then and hope I pass it before next summer

I need to do the cbt regardless anyway?

Take it from me, a 125 will drive you nuts. You'll want to chop it in in a matter of weeks at most.

I rode a 125 for 2 years, was great fun. Dont really see the rush to a big bike at all, 125's can be a great laugh and if its your first bike the buzz last of riding lasts for ages not matter what you are on.

I'd go for a 2 stroke all day long, not hard to maintain at all despite what people say, still love the smell of a 2 stroke.
