Broadband speed

I'm on BT infinity and have noticed that if i check my internet speed on my computer (wireless to home hub) I get considerable differences compared to checking it with an app on my phone.

Computer
48.93 download and 9.62 upload

Phone
18.01 download and 10.35 upload.

I have had my phone show as low a 5 Mb/s at some times.

What is the reason for this? Which is right and are BT throttling or something?

Limited by the wifi speed and the phones ability to pull the data in.

If you had a superdooper mega million mb/s inet line, and you carried out a speed test on a 486 pc you wouldn't get anywhere near the max inet speed.

My speeds stay pretty consistent (usually only change by a few kbps), but:
Phone - 53.02 & 5.16
Wifi - 53.58 & 5.03
Wired - 73.34 & 5.16

When in doubt

Ethernet cable straight into your Device & THEN Do a speed check.
If it's inconsistent here then yea, you have a problem.
But most likely as already mentioned, your encountering bottlenecks due to the network limitations of your devices.
Or your router is going faulty causing variations in wifi signal strength.
Or a million other things that effect WiFi signals
Or " They" are watching you ...
