Bikers fault for saying something significant to the nurse he should be jailed for the distress he's caused her Evil or Very Mad
What they should have done is banned her for at least 2 years made her retake her test and serve the twelve week prison sentence but then it's only a biker

Ah "Robert Travis" and how much are you being paid to talk horse shite?

Still they close the article with it, I'm sure many close minded phone using cagers will skip it all and read that and agree.

So, taking the £300 damaged "written off" helmet because "how much is your head worth" off that you get £990.. can get himself a winter bargain.

Helmet at one point was "finally throwing his £300 helmet into the road" and then "knocked his helmet off into the road".. so what one was it?

Faulty brakes, SMIDSY or on the phone again?

or.. surely not, on purpose.

I think it's great how the photo in the article shows her on the phone.

The cynic in me wonders how it would have ended if it had been "the male driver then pushed and slapped the female motorcyclist"

She won't really be on the phone.
Standard practice for guilty parties leaving court these days is to pretend to be busily engaged in a phone conversation. They can then legitimately ignore any questions thrown at them from any press camped outside.

But not using a phone while driving?

It's OK, she's been in an abusive relationship and that, so isn't really responsible for her actions.

Did the rider really need to get involved?

Lucky she wasn't a bit more nuts.

A good example of why playing the social warrior isn't always great when you're riding one of the most vulnerable forms of transport around!

The fact shes got a kid (and possibly is a single parent?) was probably factored into the sentencing a lot; not to say thats necessarily right though.

I would imagine shes completely destroyed her career permanently with that on her record as a nurse too, which is probably more punishment than any short prison sentence is going to be to her personally and doesn't cost tax payers anything.

I guess the moral of the story is don't go around shouting at people you don't know Laughing.

From Manchester evening news comment section

Fireblade
Hi can I just say I was the motorcyclist in this accident that happened.
Just would like to clear few things up I noticed this car driving and slightly moving across the road
so I held back upon me getting to the red lights I noticed the lady textin and just shook my head
for her to drop her window and say a few words to me which I replied back do u think it's right to text and drive with young kids in the car.
She at this point was turning left the lights changed I drove off only then to noticed she was
very very close behind me upon looking up the pelican lights were on red I slowed down and bang she hit me.
I managed to keep a hold of the motor bike or I feel the lady crossing may of been hurt.
I was shocked but then more shocked to be assulted and then for this lady to just drive off
thankfully I had several witnesses come forward and help me and I have to say a massive thank you to
Swinton GMP PC Chisnall has been great in helping track this lady down and then take her to court.
My children now worrying ache time i go out on my motorbike but I will not let this accident spoil my times out the bike.
thank you all for kind words and I'm no big lad either lol

Please, we're so short of nurses at the moment that we're importing them from countries where gynaecological procedure still means a bottle of gin and a rusty coat-hanger.

She's probably signed off with stress now.

I wonder whether "but i'm a nurse, people's lives depend on me" was somehow used as a mitigating excuse during sentencing?

Such disregard for life yet i bet the RCN still consider her fit to practice.

I ride past DRI more often than I would like. It is an exercise in avoiding both old folk looking for parking and people in healthcare related uniforms more interested in their sandwich or phone than the trajectory of their motorvehicle. One of these groups gets a short audible warning tone if they dont appear to have seen me, usually followed by a polite wave. The other group gets the battle cry of "put the sandwich/phone down before you kill someone. Yes, you in the {describe} car." On a good day the recipient of such is surrounded by old folk armed with walking aids and newspapers.

She was quick enough to roll it out in the MEN comments section:

Quote:
In 43 years I have had no criminal record, I have cared for the sick and terminally ill for 18 years, due to this I have a criminal record, 10 points on my licence and I risk losing my PIN number, job and my house due to this.

In addition due to my mental health problems (which conveniently were not mentioned in this article but have been mentioned in court by my solicitor) this has caused a deterioration in my health, so thanks MEN really know how to kick someone when they're down.

Reading those quotes, she's not coming across as all that remorseful.
I'd go so far as to say that she genuinely thinks it's all the bikers fault despite her actions being both illegal (as convicted), and immoral.

It does make me sick, reading stuff like this. Last week there was the trial with a pedestrian who was crossing the road during which he caused a motorcycle accident. The pedestrian had red on the traffic light so was not supposed to cross the road at the moment. The motorcyclist was dead on site, the culprit got only a suspended sentence of 1 year. Confused

Just to explain why it makes me sick, a mate of mine was in a bar fight, only defending himself (went too far though), nobody died, no body got any permanent injuries and he got a suspended sentence of 5 years. 5 years for beating up someone, 1 year (still not going to jail) for killing someone by doing something against the law.

It almost feels like it's us, motorcyclists, versus the public. And as I can see this problem is everywhere.

Shocked Shocked Shocked How did she not get more of a punishment, crazy justice, utterly crazy.

And I would have expected the chap to have called her something along the lines of a stupid C*** to get a slap/push. Doesn't excuse it I know, but what else would be said after a collision like that.
