Data from excel into php

Hi

I have a little spreadsheet but would like it as a website so always accessible. Have no idea how I would go about doing it, or what the process would be called for googling purposes!

Let's say I have a menu, 3 columns

A is food... Selection underneath
B is drink.... Selection underneath
C is desert.... Selection underneath

If I choose any combination it generates a price which is already preset.

On excel it works fine, for php I assume would need a sql database and stuff?

Thanks have read lots about this but would rather do it all in php rather than transfer and stuff

I'm not clear on what you're trying to achieve. Do you simply want to ba able to get at a spreadsheet from any of your devices? Eg., home laptop, work computer smartphone etc. If so just use DropBox.

Or do you want a web page that provides the functionality of the spreadheet, and stores the data, for use by multiple users? Then it's going to be a SQL/PhP application and forget the Excel (or LAMP if Linux tickles your fancy). You could in theory write something that uses ActiveX (or even ye old Dynamic Data Exchange) to extract data, but that's a really bad idea.

Setting up a website, and server is a steep learning curve for a beginner. I'd start with buying the 'For Dummies' book on building websites and have a long hard read-up.

2nd bit, a webpage I can go in, click a few options and see the (in this case) cost.

I've had a dabble with forums a while ago so familiar with sql database... A assumed I could set up tables in a similar way to a spreadsheet?

At least in a database I could add/remove/alter the 'menu' should I need to. If that all makes sense.
