My nice new shiny black raid shoei 2 helmet arrived this morning, took it out of the box to try on for size and smashed it straight into the ceiling light fitting, bollocks
well I doubt it would have done any internal damage, but I ain't replacing it that's for sure! ____________________ Yeah I know ! |

The reason they are a 'one impact only' item is that the foam inside that absorbs the shock gets compressed and stays there. It's therefore obvioulsy weaker in this place but it affects structure of the whole lid.
You should be fine. Like you said, it takes more than one impact if you're sliding down the road. The first impact is absorbed, then it's only other purpose is to stop your face sliding on the tarmac aswell ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

After my recent off (last thursday) i went out bought my self a SUOMY helemet agood buy for £140. i watched the dvd that came with it and it showed how they tested them for safety absolutly awesome never realised wat went in to making the helmet.
any hows after watching it i decided to rip my old helmet apart and inspect the damage. I was shocked and relived that i'd decided to buy a new helmet.
firtsly there was a crack 1-2 inch long on the outer sell that the paint scheme and lacquer was covering and the was a nice oval shaped 3inch depression about 0.5inch deep where my head had hit the kurb.
i was so thank full that it had done its job and i am certainly going to wear my new helmet even if im testing my bike out on my backroad(private) but i am determined not to have to use it ____________________ Aprilia RS125 Harada. has gone now have a SV650s K5
Are you meant to scrape knee slides or rip them clean off? |

Taking an old helmet apart can be scarily worrying. I don't recommend doing it
I need to buy a new lid soon, so if anyone knows of Arai Astro J's going at a stupidly cheap price, PM me please |
